Hello Maja fans and friends!  Nancy Hanttula here, & I am back again to share a layout I created, using the gorgeous Vintage Summer Basics collection.

the Palace

I knew that the beautiful and sophisticated browns, of some of the gorgeous Vintage Summer Basics collection papers, were perfect to scrap my photo of San Francisco’s magnificent Palace of the Fine Arts.

To create the stenciled border of the center layer, I tore a page from one of my art journals and used some brown chalk ink from Colorbox.

Below is a view of the completed border stenciling.

To create the fancy flourishes, I used a “Zip Screen” screen printing stencil I got at my local craft store.  I loved how easy these screen prints were to use.

Using acrylic paint, these stencils worked perfectly.

To create the fancy flower, I first started by cutting out the flower base using my Martha Stewart circle border punch.

To create the clay flower, I used crafter’s clay from Martha Stewart.  This clay air drys and is so extremely light-weight, making it perfect to use for embellishments.

I rolled out the basic flower shapes with my hands.

I then used some basic cake decorating tools from Wilson.

Before letting the clay dry, you can embed beads, pearls, buttons, or other embellishments into your design.

After letting the clay dry, you can paint it or ink it to bring out the designs you have imprinted into the clay with the cake decorating tools.

I finished the page off with some details in the upper left corner.
