Hello Maja Fans and welcome to the blog today 🙂

Last Sunday marked the beginning of Advent, which for Christians is a 4-week period of preparation for Christmas. Among many Catholic traditions, we attend special daily Holy Masses which my kids love, as they always begin with the church in darkness and the priest leading a procession to the altar, with special Advent lanterns being the only source of light, and singing special songs that I like almost as much as Christmas carols 😉 We also make the Advent wreath which symbolizes four Sundays before Christmas.

This year I decided to use our latest winter collection, A Gift For You, to make my…well, actually not a wreath, but home decor with four candles 🙂

mdadvI got this idea when I saw this little wooden sleigh I just had to buy 🙂 I decorated it with a piece of cheesecloth, glittery berries and a poinsettia before arranging the candles.

mdadv1Then I used the small pad of papers, as they have smaller patterns and are thus better visible on little candles. I used candles of various height for more interest 🙂 I decorated the first candle with a ticket with Santa (as He comes during the first week of Advent 🙂 ), a piece of ribbon and tiny pompom.

mdadv2The candle for the second week is decorated with a tag and poinsettia I cut out from the cut-outs sheet:

mdadv3On the third candle I used a chipboard snowflake covered with glitter and a punched decorative border:

mdadv4Finally the last candle, the shortest as it will be lit for only one week, is decorated with a small tag and a tiny bell that makes you really feel like Christmas 🙂

mdadv5Finally I accented the ornaments with white liquid pearls and glitter to look like frosted snow 🙂

Do you celebrate Advent in any way?

Supplies: Maja Design papers: A Gift For You small pad. Other: dies: Memory Box; punches: Martha Stewart; glitter: Ranger; sleigh, cheesecloth, poinsettia, pompoms: from my stash.

See you later 🙂
