DIY Frosty and Faux Gold Filigree Christmas Ornaments

Jennifer Snyder here with a jump on Christmas.
Maja Design has some of the worlds best Christmas collections.  I pulled some of these collections out and got to work like a little elf.
I made some tree ornaments by combining Creative Embellishments chipboard frames with  papers  from Maja Design – I Wish collection and Maja Design – Joyous Winter Days collection

If you scroll down, I will show you how I made the ornaments.

The chipboard on this first ornament has been transformed into faux gold filigree using gold embossing enamel.

These are the papers I used from Maja Design:

Instructions for DIY Ornaments
So how did I make these?

You’ll need two packages of  Creative Embellishments chipboard – Small Intricate Frames.  The great thing about that is you can now make two ornaments like I did or save the unused frames for other projects.

Step 1.  Emboss or paint both sides of the chipboard.  You’ll need one oval and two matching square frames/diamond frames.

Step 2.  Using the square frames as your sizing guide, cut paper to fit behind the squares and then cut two more pieces a little larger to use as side panels. Once again, I used the Ephemera page from Maja Design – I Wish collection

Step 3.  Glue paper to each of the square chipboard frames.  Then fold the chipboard to form a 45degree angle.

Step 4.  Glue the square chipboard frames to the oval.  You will only be gluing the top and bottom of the square to the oval.  At this point, the squares are not really secure enough and need more support.

Step 5.  Glue the paper squares to the sides of the ornament.  This now

This is the second ornament I created.
The chipboard pieces have been embossed with aged ivory embossing enamel.

This short video shows how the ornament looks from all sides.

Hello Maja friends!

The sunflowers are blooming in my garden, a wonderful flower – beautiful and useful at the same time. They radiated stronger than the sun and provide the birds with plenty of food in winter. Mostly they grow by themselves and only need a support or neighbor’s garden fence.

I was inspired to create mixed media layout with autumn feelings and so I used  a lot of leaves dies, stamps and fabric textures.

The autumn colours based on spray inks in yellow, white and brown shades.

The Monochrome paper sheet ‘Old Brass’ from the Shades of Celebration collection was very suitable for it.

I’m always in love with the amazing motif papers from Maja Design,

but if you want to develop artistically completely free, the monochrome papers are perfect,

because you can hide nothing with your own personal design.

You know what I mean?!

I love the natural look, not perfect but unique,

just like outside in the garden and in the great outdoors.

I hope my layout was able to get you into the fall

and inspire you to play with the wonderful papers again.

Have a beautiful time!

Kerstin

Hello Maja fans!

It’s Mary here with you today and I have a new layout to share made for my September inspiration.

As you may already know, I love searching on Pinterest to find photos to scrap and this time I came across with that amazing photo. I choose some papers from the gorgeous ”Denim & Friends” collection that was just perfect for it. But, before I continue more I want to give all the proper credits to the ”unknown” photographer.

As my main paper I used the ”Stonewashed” and I made some layers behide my photo with the ”Paisley”, the ”Leather” and both sides of the ”Summer Shirt” papers. To start, I gave my background a coat of clear gesso. When it was dried, I added some texture with modeling paste and a stencil.

Then  I used Lindy’s Gang spray to color my page and made some stamping here and there.

I heat embossed the Dusty Attic chipboards with Stampendous embossing enamels and then I randomly rubbed some wax to highlight them a little bit more.

When everything was glued down, I added some art stones and I made the final touch with some splatters with white gesso.

Papers used:

That’s all for today, my friends!

Thank you for stopping by!

Hello sweet Maja fans.

It’s thursday again and my turn to show you what I have made with the gorgeous papers of Maja Design.

Today I bring you this Baby card. We got happy news from  friends of ours they are  expecting a baby girl .

Im so happy for them and decided to make a baby card to congratulate them.

For this card I used the uber sweet collection of  Vintage baby.

I used my spellbinders ovals to cut out the baby image of the sheet It’s a Girl! and crochet a cute little lacy edge around it.

I cut out a piece of the corner to use on the front and inside of the card.

For the back ground I used Flowers for mum and a piece of the bottom strip at the side underneath it I attached some lace.

on the inside I used a tag ,the baby girl sentiment,  the stamp with It’s a girl  from the sheet with die cuts  . The journaling card is from the sheet journaling cards pink.

At the bottom I glued the strip from First teddy bear.

To give the card a little extra pizzazz I  took my sewing machine and added some stitches to the card.

I’m really in love with this collection and think about making a minialbum  with it as well.

For now I hope you enjoy this baby card as much as I do.

Thank you very much for visiting and make shure you come back for more inspiration from the other Maja Girls

Good morning, dear Maja Friends, welcome to the blog today!

The wedding season is slowing down a bit, but still the wedding bells can be heard each Saturday 😉 And so it is reasonable to have a stock of wedding cards and gifts at hand. Therefore for my today’s post I decided to make a wedding exploding box for those who wish to complete their wishes with some cash too 🙂

I combined two collections in the box, and they are both perfect not only because of beautiful colours and elegant patterns, but also because of their names! Mix Vintage Romance with Celebration and you have a perfect wedding project.

I matched the flowers I used for the box with the printed ones of the Engagement sheet.

Inside the box are the usual slots for money – the sentiments say: for the crib, for the shared nest and for the journey of your dreams – as well as the space for writing in wishes:

The filigree chipboard cake I used perfectly matches the flourishes of the papers! I decorated it with mini flowers and satin ribbon:

And how do you give cash presents to the newlyweds? Just an envelope or something more elaborate?

Here’s what I used to make the exploding box romantic and flowery:

Maja Design papers:

Other: flowers: Prima, Wild Orchid Crafts; chipboard cake: Wycinanka.pl; dies: Crealies; ribbons, cheesecloth, pearls: my stash.

And that is all for today, thank you for visiting the blog and feel welcome to drop by any time to find more inspiration 🙂
