Hello, and happy Tuesday! It’s Nancy on the blog today. How are you doing? I hope that summer is allowing you some relaxing creative time. I’ve been traveling quite a bit with my family, but not all of it has been for pleasure. We arrived home Sunday night after a long, grueling road trip. Thankfully, after a good nights sleep, I was up and running again, happily ensconced in my cozy craft room.

I was perusing the many Maja Design collections, trying to decide which papers I wanted to use for my project. It can be difficult, because there are so many beautiful choices! That was the moment my daughter called. She returned from a seaside holiday with her family on Sunday and called to share the joys of their vacation with me. One of her favorite memories is riding bicycles to along beach each morning and playing in the waves with my grandson. That’s when I knew I wanted to make a card for her using Maja Design’s Summertime collection!

The papers are cut, distressed, layered, and stitched. The sentiment, tag, bicycle image, and ‘summer joy’ stamp are part of the paper collection. Even the blue flowers are fussy cut from a piece of design paper.

I went pretty heavy on the layers with this card, and will try to show you some of the dimension in the photos. Foam adhesive is used to ‘pop up’ each layer. The flowers are woven in and out of a segment of wooden fence I had in my stash. The cheesecloth is stained and frayed to lend a tattered, beachy look.

Paper flowers and a twine bow add a finishing touch. Below is a peek of the inside of the card. I enjoy adding special touches to the interior of my cards, and this one includes another postage stamp from the paper collection layered over paper flower petals.

I’ve got the Denim Blues…

Jennifer Snyder here today.
Yep, I’ve got the denim blues.  In this case, the blues are great to have especially when they involve the newest paper collection from   Maja Design called, Denim & Friends and the coordinating set of solids called Maja Design – Monochrome Collection  Shades of Denim & Friends .

I have a card I made with this marvelous collection.  I used a newly released die from Spellbinders  (called Iron Romance) to help make my card sensational.  Two new products that need to be at the top of your “must haves” list.

I wanted a graceful delicate card for an upcoming wedding.  The color palette for this wedding is   teal/seafoam  so I picked out the perfectly matched papers and went to work creating from my heart.
These are the paper choices:
Maja Design Denim & Friends – Blue Jeans
Maja Design Denim & Friends -Jeans & T-Shirt
Maja Design Denim & Friends – Summer Shirt
Maja Design Monochrome Shades of Denim – Light Blue (B side)
You can see how perfectly the colors go together.  I think it’s what makes Maja Design papers so special.
The next few photos are close ups and you can see how gorgeous the paper is.
Thanks for your time today.  I value your visit.

Hello and welcome. Tina O back with you today.

My newest creation, “Picture Perfect” has been designed using the gorgeous Denim and Friends collection. This is such a versatile collection that I decided to do a beachside layout. My favourite thing to create, as we live in one of the most beautiful beach inspired places in the world ! Much of our spare time and holidays are spent at the beachside, therefore I have an endless supply of photographs from these memorable moments.

I have kept my layout very simple using a smaller sized portrait colour photo of my youngest daughter at the beach getting very very muddy. I caught her unawares as you can see from the photo. Denim and Friends has many gorgeously stunning pages that would work perfectly for a beachside background page. Today I decided to use the bs of Fashion to start my layout. I primed it with gesso and did some stenciling using the Dusty Attic Confetti stencil with crackle texture paste. Once it dried a did some colouring with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and water.

I did lots of layering of chipboards (Dusty Attic) to create a design to work a photo into. These chipboards were dressed in Rust Pastes, Gesso, Distress Inks and Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.

I made some acetate embellishments using 49andMarket’s Sand and Sea stamp set. Other embellishments included a lace motif and beautiful 49andMarket Sea Side Blooms in Sea Breeze colour.

I wanted to emulate the mud that my daughter was digging in. To do this I have used fibres coloured with rust pastes. I dried these and gave them a coating of gesso and then randomly wiped over with Rust Pastes. I also adhered over the fibres with some Art Stones with 3D Gloss Gel. And then coloured them using some Nuvo Mousse.

Well that is all from me today. I hope you have enjoyed your visit here today.

Until next time happy scrapping. x

Hello Sweeties

Today I’m up on Maja Design blog with a layout featuring the new paper collection Denim and Friends. I chose a photo I’ve taken during my trip to Porto of the Rabelos, the traditional boats of the Douro.

Rabelos by Pascale B.

As usual, I primed the background with clear gesso. I added a design with clear embossing powder and a stamp. Then I added another design with a stencil and the Platinum crackle paste. I let dry naturally.

I die-cut a few branches in a watercolor paper that I painted with a brown Twinkling H2O. I also cut a few papers to add under the photo.

When the crackle paste was dry, I colored the background with different Twinkling H2Os.

I glued some mesh that looks like a fishnet, as well as flowers and seashells. I added a few chipboard that I colored with metallic waxes.

To finish the layout I added some Art Stones.

Hello and welcome to the Maja Design Blog on this lovely Tuesday! It’s Nancy on the blog today. How are you doing? How are you filling your summer days? Are you crafting, or maybe gardening, enjoying the seaside, or possibly exploring far away places? We’re blessed to live near the beach, but we’re looking forward to spending some time cooling off in the mountains as well. I’m especially excited about having extra time for creative pursuits.

This card is the result of some happy hours in my craft room. Maja Design’s  Coffee in the Arbor paper collection inspires memories of childhood summers for me, complete with flowers, picket fences, and lemonade stands. I love recalling those carefree days and the idea of getting rich with a lemonade stand, the first form of entrepreneurship for me and my little sister. It involved setting a pretty table in the garden (that was half the fun!), making pitchers of fresh lemonade (with the help of my sweet mom), and selling it for about 10 cents a cup to anyone passing by. The riches we gathered were memories, and those memories are the sweetest treasure of all.

Layers of design paper are distressed and double stitched to form the base, with bits of pretty lace stitched in as well. Circles are layered, cut in half, and staggered. The sentiment stamp is from my stamping cabinet, and seems perfect for this card.

The picket fence is from my stash. I’m so happy I rediscovered it amidst the many odds and ends that are patiently waiting to be used. You’ll find a plethora of summer blooms and leaves climbing in and around the fence. A natural twine bow is added for a finishing touch. I love bows!
