Hello Maja Fans, it’s Maja here with a yummy post for you 🙂

I must admit I’m not the best cook. I can cook only several meals that are edible and I don’t even try to cook anything that requires more than an hour in the kitchen. However, I never say never and just in case, for future use, I collect cookbooks and recipes. Which means I’m sometimes in need of a recipe notebook 🙂

mdcook0For this one I used the most “kitchen” collection from Maja Design, i.e. Ska Vi Ta En Fika? That mini plaid pattern looks so much as a kitchen tablecloth! I also chose the yummy plums design to make the background for a hand-coloured stamped image. I like to secure the corners of notebooks with metal protectors so that they endure everyday use.

mdcook1I also made a custom closing band using ordinary elastic band and a pearl brad to block it. Of course, the band was white, but that was not a problem – I used a Promarker in the matching colour to change that 🙂 Thus you can easily create custom bands and ribbons – just remember to colour over a craft sheet or a piece of plastic, as markers stain until wet. Once they’re dry, the colour is sealed.

mdcook7Next, I also like to decorate the wire with a piece of ribbon and button that also is a decorative topping for the string with a metal mini spoon that can be used as bookmark:

mdcook2As much as plaid, I associate lace with cozy home kitchen – so there it is, made with an edger punch:

mdcook3I always add a pocket for some loose pages on the inner cover – here I decorated it with a die-cut doily and chipboard cutlery:

Speaking of recipes, let me now share my favourite muffin recipe. As I mentioned above, I’m not a good cook and I’m very likely to spoil something, forget an ingredient or two or finally burn a meal 😉 And yet these yummy babies are always perfect and they take no more than half an hour to make!

mdrecWhat I love about this recipe is that you can easily change it to your taste and needs without losing the yumminess and puffiness 🙂 I for instance use cane sugar, soya milk and mix rye flour with wheat flour, I even add just water when I don’t have milk at hand. You can also add whatever you like to create various flavours using the same portion of batter (you have enough for 24 muffins, so just add nuts, or almonds, or bluberries, or raisins and you have a muffin party in 30 minutes!). Perfect for Mardi Gras!
