Hello dear MajaDesign friends! February, the month of love, is here and it’s time for a new challenge.

This is how we use the mood boards:

Definition mood board – n

[a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other]

We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truly believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. However – we highly recommend you to follow the theme.. Feel free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme.

We will pick a winner and present it here on the blog February 27th.

Have in mind that these challenges are a really great way for us to discover new talents and maybe some future Creative Team members…

How to participate?

♥ Create anything you’ll like – a layout, a card, something altered or maybe a canvas. Use Maja papers primarily! Take a nice picture of it and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu. We also need to know your full name, address and a phone number. Please specify what collection you would like to win, if you are the lucky one. We will also want to know if you would like it in the size 12*12 or 6*6. Please send us the pictures in the size of 800 pixels on the width. We would be so grateful if you also could change the file name of the photo to your first and last name including your country.

♥ Feel free to send us more than one picture, from different angles or some close-ups – or why not more than one project?

♥ Publish the project/s on your blog (or/and any social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) with a link to our site. Please also add the image of the mood board.

♥ Feel free to combine your entry with other challenges.

♥ The winner will be revealed the last Monday each month, at the Maja blog. The winner will be sent one collection by their choice, and also a digital Winner’s Badge to use and brag with.

We need your creation by February 23rd at the latest.

Thank you & Good luck!

Some inspiration from our amazing Creative Team:

Hello, I’m Monika Jakubowska.

I`m so honoured and thrilled to be a Maja Design Guest Designer,Thank you for the invitation. I think it will be a fabulous year.

Today I want to present you my very first creation – a shadow box and a card made for Grandpa and Grandma.
Monika Jakubowska I 2017 (1)

To decorate this set I used gorgeous, delicate Vintage Baby It`s a Boy VIN-732 and Vintage Baby Special Delivery VIN-737. These papers look so lovely here. I also used my handmade flowers, some chipboards and Prima metal and resin embellishments.

Honouring my heritage

I’m so very grateful to my Grandmother for sharing her story and saved keepsakes with me. Those moments when she and my mum tells me about how things were back then are highly treasured and a great source of inspiration to me. Can you imagine she even allowed me to share this treasure with the whole (scrapbooking-) world?!
Let me tell some of my hidden secrets…

During the World war two my Grandfather served in the military. While spending all this time away from his family he wrote the most beautiful poems and letters to my Grandmother. I’ve enjoyed the great honour of being allowed to use some of those in my paper-designing as well. You can find fragments of them in the background of the Vintage Basic papers…
Vintage-basics-heritagemormorToday our beloved Grandmother is turning 91 and I just have to send her a greeting  HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANNY!

So everyone, let’s make sure to keep our memories safe and pass them on to the next generation… They will be someone’s treasured heritage.

Meet our Winter Girl

December is here and it’s time to present our final Season Girl. As promised we have chosen her from the participants of our Mood board challange. Looking through all the contributions I once again was amazed by all the great creativity our scrappy World holds. And I just have to take the chance and say a big THANK YOU to all of you that have participated! It’s been a true pleasure to see your lovely work. I can also tell you that the Mood board challange will be back in January…

Now back to the girl who got the last guest spot of the year. She is a devoted MajaDesign fan and she has actually won the Mood board challange twice. We love her very detailed, shabby romantic style.

A big Hurrah for Amy Voorhuis! Our fantastic Winter girl.

Here is what she has to say about herself:

“My name is Amy Voorthuis and I live in one of the smallest countries on earth – The Netherlands, with the love of my life Jeroen. Nine years and some what ago we became parents to the most handsome boy in the world Kevin.
I work as a Optician in a optic store. Done that for about 14 years now and I love what I do,  you have to be creative in many ways in this profession.
Scrapbooking became my creative outlet about 10 years ago when my mom took a present home from my aunt Ellen who lives in Florida.
I think you can guess what that was – “a scrapbook”. My aunt still regrets it because she really wants to scrap with me and can’t because of the distance. When I was asked to be a wintergirl for Maja Design I was so excited! I really love to work with these beautiful papers, and I gladly excepted the wonderful offer.
Thanks again for asking me!
If you want to see more of my work you can visit my blog here http://www.amyvoorthuis.blogspot.se/

Hugs xox Amy”

Amy describing:
“First I pencil draw the shape of this thermometer then I stitched the edges with my sewing machine and distressed it!

I used a stencil on it so it looked like broken ice and stamped randomly on the thermometer for the finishing touch I used a snow writer one my flowers and chipboard!”

“On my card I used the same techniques as on the thermometer!”

20141203_101002 20141203_100959 20141203_101010

“On my layouts I used lots of Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays and embossing powders and lots of layers and always my sewing machine and I love to distress every paper I get my hands on. :-)”

Thank you so much for watching! And a big thanks to Amy for sharing her beautiful art with us!
