A very good morning to you, Maja Fans!

Monday is usually not the most favourite day of the week, but I hope to cherish you up a bit sharing this cheerful summery birthday set that I made using our latest release, the Summer Crush collection 🙂

mdsummThe set consists of a notepad and, of course, a card for writing in some best birthday wishes 🙂 So let’s have a closer look: I tied a piece of checker ribbon and a metal charm on the wire of the notepad:

mdsumm1The notepad can be closed and secured by elastic band tied around. Tip: I buy white elastic band and then colour pieces with my Promarkers to perfecly match papers 🙂 Alcohol markers dry quickly and the elastic band doesn’t stain.

mdsumm2I love when signature strips offer some mini designs as well – here I used the strip to mark the line between two designs.

mdsumm3I also like to put a small pocket inside my notepads for keeping in some loose pages, tickets, receipts etc. I decorated the inside by stamping some positive thoughts:

mdsumm4The card features the same blue chevron paper for the background and a beautiful retro image on the front:

mdsumm5I inserted die-cut doilies between the layers and added some mini roses accented with glitter:

mdsumm6There are some fabric roses too, and a seam-binding ribbon bow:

mdsumm7Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Summer Crush: Snapshots, Dancing the Bop bs, He gives her flowers, He gives her flowers bs, First date bs, Flirty, Flirty bs. Other: dies: Memory Box, Cheery Lynn Designs, Prima; stamps: Kesi’art, pearls, brad: ScrapBerry’s; button, ribbons, charm – from my stash.

I hope the set is a perfect birthday gift for a young lady 🙂

Wishing you a good week-

Hi there Maja fans!
Ingrid here today with a project made with the new collection Summer Crush.
For these drawers I used the blue and light brown tones.
These colors reminded me of the beach so I’ve added some seashells, some bought and some self collected from the beach.

IMG_1108Started with two sheets of papers for the base.
I used the “long summer nights” for the top and sides and the hearts.
The “he gives her flowers” for the drawers.
Distressed all the edges.

IMG_1112Two chipboard hearts were also ‘dressed’ with the beautiful papers.
The white polymer sea items are from Scrapberry’s.
Also added some mesh and gauze

The drawers had the “he gives her flowers” as a base and the “long summer nights” for the hearts. All the edges were distressed.

Found the lovely metal heart in my stash.

IMG_1115For the square ( a lid of a small chipboard box ), I used the “he gives her flowers” and “dancing the Bop” papers.

IMG_1117Made some thread flowers in a matching creme color.

IMG_1122Some mesh and gauze for extra interest.

Cathy - Summer Crush

Hello Maja Design friends! It’s Cathy here and I have a card to share with you today. It’s monochromatic in colour but I hope not in mood! I have used the newest collection, Summertime Crush which is my favourite collection at the moment!

cathy - Summer Crush 2

I used a stamp from JustRite Enjoy the Day stamp set as my sentiment and die cut it with a Spellbinders ovals die. Using a distressing tool, I inked around the edges in a circular motion while the paper was still in the die using Weathered Wood Distress ink. This ink which matches the papers perfectly!

cathy - Summer Crush 3

As you can see I have used a few patterns in this card. I used Dancing the Bop (front and back) and Long Summer Nights. By matting them in white, it helps to break it up and not have the papers compete with each other. I did ink and distress each of my layers using walnut stain distress ink, one of my favourite inks.

I used foam tape add some dimension to some of my layers. The base layer and the horizontal band was glued and everything else was attached with foam tape. I also used one the base strips from one of the papers out in the horizontal band. …don’t throw them!

Hi! I'm Cathy. I live in Sydney and am a Primary School teacher. I am passionate about teaching and love what I do. At present paper crafts are my creative outlet, which is my other passion. I am drawn to vintage, shabby chic styled crafts which I love to create. I do enjoy other crafts such as sewing, quilting, knitting and crotchet…not enough time! I am always inspired to learn and to try new techniques in both teaching and my crafts. I love Maja Design papers and enjoy creating with them.

A Perfect Day

Hello friends!

Have you ever fallen in love with a collection of papers so much that you just cannot keep your hands off of it? Well, I am looking at the new Summer Crush collection from Maja Design and there is this mad impulse to make loads and loads of stuff from it. I guess that’s why it’s so aptly named “Summer Crush”!

This is my third project featuring these papers and I’m focusing on the pink this round after working with the teals in the previous post. It’s remarkable how easy these two colors are to work with, either together or on their own. Here is my layout, a rare one of me and the boys at the park since I’m always the person behind the camera. It’s not often I play rough with them, especially since I’m pregnant now but you can tell that we were having a lot of fun here! More like they were having a lot of fun tickling and climbing over me….It is a pleasant reminder that it’s not a must to capture the moment, but more important to live in it.  But make sure your camera settings are right so that the husband can do the capturing instead.

Now in the collection, one of the sheets actually came exactly like the background you see here. However it was too flat for my liking so I trimmed out the centre teal portion and mounted it onto another sheet with the pink checkered design. This way, I can distress the edges of my teal paper and make it more dimensional and outstanding. I would have done some stitching as well along the edges if I wasn’t such a klutz with the sewing machine. Once again, my background mixed media work was kept close and tight to the main cluster so that it doesn’t cover up the gorgeous images Marie has drawn over the page.

If you look closely, almost everything on this page is a square of some kind. The papers I used for layering are all squares of different sizes,  my chipboard frame is square, my two main sheets of patterned paper are squares, the stamped design is square… and I even found two square buttons in my stash! Now what’s up with the squares you say? I really have no idea other than it’s fun!

Some close-ups:

I just cannot get enough of those straws! In my previous post I demonstrated how to make these cute little babies and this round I’ve used the hearts and chevrons to complement the whole mood of the layout.

IMG_9933

Layering the patterned papers and also a die cut doily to create some additional detail in my floral cluster.

IMG_9934

The info strip which I used as a subtitle. My background work comprises of simple stenciling, painting and creating texture with distress glitter and sand grit.

That’s all I have for today. Hope you like what I have shared!

Crafting has always been a passion of mine, and since I discovered the amazing world of papercraft years ago I have been completely addicted to it. I love the shabby chic- and vintage style and most of my projects are characterized by the use of vintage photos, lace, flowers and romantic details
