Uniquely You

Hello Maja Design fans! Gabrielle here with  you today to share a canvas I made using some older bits of my scrapping stash mixed with some beautiful Maja Design papers.  I had recently been browsing on Pinterest and found this artist out of Singapore, named Grace Ciao, who makes fashion designs out of real fresh flowers….I  thought the artwork was beautiful but at the same time thought it sad that they could not last being that they were made from fresh flowers.  It got me to thinking about some very large Prima blooms that I had bought many, many years ago when I first started out scrapping.  I realized that they would be perfect to make up some lovely couture canvas designs.  Yesterday I shared one canvas that I made out of one of the other flower petals (also shared a video tutorial on how I made it as well).  Today I’m sharing another canvas using some pink/cream petals from my stash.

I used a variety of papers from the Maja, Vintage Summer Basics and Vintage Spring Basics collections. I used the center of the ‘March 1st’ paper (from Vintage Spring Basics) for the body of my couture figure as well as the pretty Daffodil images in the corners of the paper for my canvas background.  In the center of the canvas I used ‘1910’ from Vintage Summer Basics, and then cut out a heart shape from ‘1909-bs’ also from the Vintage Summer collection.

I always feel that the Maja papers are beautifully complimented by Dusty Attic chipboard, in this case I used a new chipboard design called ‘Elegant Swirls #3’ to top my canvas. I used a stencil that was designed by a lovely and talented friend of mine, Janene Meyerowitz to make the wings behind the figure and to add the lattice design in the corners.  Running down the side of the canvas I used a piece called ‘Branch #3’ and in the bottom corner I used a corner chippie from the DeVine frame set.

Running down the side of the canvas I used a Dusty Attic chipboard piece called ‘Branch #3″ that I just gave a coat of Gesso and inked with some Ingvild Bolme ‘Moss Garden’ chalk ink, and some Branch Bark ink by her, as well.  In the bottom right corner I added a corner chippie from the DeVine Frame Set (Dusty Attic).  The dress design was made entirely of a couple of the petals I had from an old, old Prima box.  (I’m sure you can use petals from just about any silk/fabric flower you have in your stash).

I sketched out a couture figure to create my canvas design and saved the page as a template.  Just right click on the photo and ‘save image as’ to your computer if you would like to try using my sketch for one of your projects.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Maja Design blog today, I always enjoy reading your comments and feedback! xo

Hello Sweeties,
Today I want to share with you my very first project as a member of the Maja Design DT.
IloveNY

I started with my frame. I covered it first with Gesso and used a stencil to add a design to it with heavy Gesso. When dry, I added a layer of black Gesso. I let it dry. I then dry-brushed the whole frame with white Gesso and started to add some colors with pink and silver Silks with the same dry-brush technic. I finished the frame with silver wax.

I used a punch to cut the little hydrangea. I added a little bit of glitter in the center.

The chipboard as simply been embossed with Aged Silver from Stampendous.

After embossing the butterflies, I used a stamp to give them so texture, then I colored them.

Hello, I'm Pascale B. from France. Since I began to scrap, flowers are part of my layouts, and I gradually started to use mixed media as well. I don’t know how to define my style, perhaps something like free vintage shabby style could be a good definition. Visit me at www.pbhobby.blogspot.com

A winter project for you today featuring Maja’s “A Gift for you” collection.
Added my favorite color, turquoise!

I took a reversed canvas and started to decorate with papers from the “A Gift for you”.
I used the backside of the *pictures and tag sheet* for my background and
*shipped from the North Pole* for the inside of the canvas.
For the border of the inner frame and the roof of the birdhouse I used the *when the snow is falling*.

This cute little bird was found between a lot of xmas decorations at a local store.

Added some puffy paint around the edges to give it a more wintery look.

On some spots on the canvas I glued some bits of kitchen paper towel and added a mix of modeling paste with 13 Arts glass filler. Once dry, I painted the brown and turquoise colors and gave it a touch of gesso for more effect.

The small birdhouse gives it a great 3D effect.

Wooden trees.

Some flowers and the white resin at the top of the canvas are from Scrapberry’s, together with the lovely white twigs from 13 Arts.

The birdhouse with the *when the snow is falling* papers.
Some white cotton balls to give it a more wintery feel.

The cute bird sitting on some twigs from 13 Arts.

Papers used:
*shipped from the North Pole
* when the snow is falling
* pictures and tags sheet

Wishing you a warm and cozy day!

It’s been a long time since a made a canvas/layout.
Made this one for my youngest daughter, Yiscka
with the beautiful Crea Diem collection from Maja design.
The closer the date of Yiscka’s leaving to the States, the more sentimental I become!! 🙂
She had to take some photo’s for all the legal documents, not her usually sunny self and she really hates this one, but he…..thought it was a beautiful photo anyway and had to be scrapped!
(note: she forgave me for using it! LOL)

-Time to fly-
Go where you need to.
Explore the world.
Live your life but always
remember your way home.

I started this layout with layering some cut out strips from the Crea Diem collection.

Created the background with modeling paste and a clock template.
Used the fushia color from Shimmerz paints and some black acrylic paint.
The gorgeous butterfly is from Scrap-Unlimited and got two coats of gesso before randomly painted with the fushia. Added some pearls on the butterfly.

Lovely -home- resin from Prima.

Ab imo pectore = with all my heart / uit de grond van mijn hart
A piece of the bottom strip.

I wanted to add some extra color for more contrast and choose some lime colored touches in the flowers and pearls. The chipboard frame is from Dusty Attic and the painted twigs are from 13Arts.

Some extra touches with gesso.

I used the following papers:
Ord flyger bort
Den oersattliga tiden
Fylld av karlek (+bottom strip)

Enjoy your day!
