A 10 Maja 1

I wish you a warm welcome to the Maja Design Blog! It’s Nancy here, and I have a new card to share with you today. Spring has finally arrived. Flowers are blooming and the songbirds are nesting in my garden. I watch them from the window of my craft room, and they inspired this ‘Birds of a Feather’ card.

There are several layers of Maja Design’s  Vintage Spring Basics paper collection that have been distressed and stitched together. The floral details are fussy cut from both the 12 x 12 and 6 x 6 collections.

A cheery bouquet of Prima flowers and paper cherry blossoms adorn the front of the card, along with die cut leaves and blossom flourishes. A bit of cheesecloth adds a soft touch.

A tiny bird’s nest peeks out from the corner of the bouquet. The photo below captures additional fussy cutting from the 6 x 6 paper collection.

The sentiment is stamped using archival ink. The finishing touch is a natural twine bow.

I wish a warm welcome to all of our crafty friends here at the Maja Design Blog! It’s Nancy today, and I have a miniature rose garden card to share with you. Flowers have captured my imagination since I read ‘The Secret Garden’ as a child. This love of gardens carried over into adulthood, so most of my creations are overflowing with blooms. There is no better way to bring the garden in your minds eye to life than with Maja Design papers! This card features some of the gorgeous blues of the Vintage Autumn Basics paper collection.

The papers are distressed, stitched, and layered to form a base for the card. All of the embellishments (except the pearls and small tulips) are created using the paper collection. The clock and flourish in the left corner are fussy cut and popped up with foam adhesive.

The frame to the right was cut using a Marianne Creatables die. It’s actually beautifully embossed, but I couldn’t get the camera to pick it up.

The roses and leaves are handcrafted from the paper collection, with clusters of tiny glass pearls scattered throughout.

Fika Birthday Card (782x800) Maja

Hello, friends! I’m thrilled to be here with you on this lovely Tuesday. Have you been busy in your craft space? We have five February birthdays in our family, so I’m happily crafting cards this time of year. I adore the purples in Maja Design’s ‘Ska vi ta en Fika?’ collection, and couldn’t resist creating this ‘Pretty in Purple’ birthday card.

Fika Birthday Florals 1 (800x772)

The blooming roses are handcrafted from the paper collection using Tim Holtz Tattered Florals dies. You can view a tutorial for these roses here on my blog. To create the larger flowers featured on this card, simply add additional layers of petals. The leaves are cut using a Magnolia Rose Leaf die. I dusted my florals with gesso for a soft, shabby finish.

The papers are distressed, stitched, and layered, then popped up with foam tape for added dimension. The center of the card is cut out with a Spellbinder’s circle die to reveal a cheery floral pattern.

Below is a closer look at the layering, for a total of four layers plus the floral spray. Glass pearls are scattered here and there. I recently purchased them in bulk, and I love, love, love using them! If I could see into the future I would predict you may be seeing a lot of them… at least until they run out.
