Hi friends! Today I am celebrating the news of a brand new sweet little girl. We have had such an abundance of little boys in our lives lately, that I have been busily making new baby cards..All in boy themes.

I had to dig out my stash and create something different this time around, and it was so fun. I really love girly cards, because I can get carried away with lots of feminine details and plenty of glitter, sparkles, lace and cute, tiny, hearts.

I think the Maja Design papers used here are just the perfect baby card colors and it was so much fun dressing them up for this card!

I used a mix of Vintage Summer Basics (#1911) and Life in The Country (In the Hammock).

{p.s. If you love the Life in The Country collection, I am currently giving away the ENTIRE 12×12 collection, all you have to do is visit my blog to enter!}

For the background, I used a paper from the Antligen collection (Vardagjamning) and added a piece of the lovely gingham print to the bottom. I added a smaller bit of the floral paper, and stitched it to the base of the card. Over that, I layered a die-cut doily, onto which I stamped a motif in kraft ink, as well as a round sentiment in black ink.

The teensy heart is a stamped image which I cut out, and embellished with an even smaller heart which is covered with German glass glitter.

Just above the doily, I added another layered embellishment with die-cut pieces and a strip of lace. At the very top of the card, I used a pretty pearl embellishment from a really old set of Prima pearls. I thought this was just the perfect card to use these little beauties up.

Another layer of lace at the bottom, along with another little heart and sentiment, and voila!

Supplies Used: Maja Design Papers (Vintage Summer Basics – 1911, Antligen – Vardagjamning, Life in the Country – In the Hammock), white cardstock, black and kraft ink, Papertrey Ink Doily Die, WPlus9 Quilt Cuts #1 Die, Inkadinkado Stamps, Melissa Frances German Glass Glitter, Lace from my stash.

I adore the way these beautiful papers make the card so soft and delicate…Just like little baby girls. I also have to add just how much I love the round sentiment, and how much it makes me think of little girls and how we all once lived in our own fairy tales, and an infinite land of our imaginations…It is something I hope every little girl will hold onto for the rest of their lives.

 Much Love,

Hello! It is time to share a new Maja Design creation. I have made a layout using the Life in the Country collection. Lots of lovely colours and patterns here. The dark blue was perfect for my page, since it is for my little nephew.

Melvin

I started making my layout creating a pattern on the background papers using a mask and some texture paste. And then added some layers of fabulous Maja papers underneath the photo.

Life in the Country…You’re So Sweet

Morning Maja friends! Hope you’re having a great day so far. I just returned home from a week long vacation in Florida, USA and though I had a wonderful, relaxing time…I couldn’t wait to get back into my stamp room again! I drew my inspiration for today’s card from Maja Design’s Life in the Country collection. I am so attracted to the soft floral prints and the lovely patterns. So I put this card together and added a bit of ‘snow’ for a little extra appeal. Take a look:

MajaBlogPost031413CleanYoureSoSweetMajaclean031413Most of the edges are distressed with a paper distresser. I did stitch the middle panel with my sewing machine after adhering the ‘Summerbreeze’ paper to the kraft. That panel was attached to the back side of the ‘Read a Book’ paper. I added two more columns of said design underneath the sentiment as well. The row of buttons are sprinkled with more glitter and attached to a length of ‘In the Hammock’ paper. The seam binding bow was first crinkled, then tied. I then added a small hemp bow and a button locket. That was then tied over a strip of cluny lace. After all was said and done, I dabbed some tacky glue with my finger on certain parts of the card and sprinkled the snow glitter.

Here are a couple of close-ups of the ‘snow’ and bow/button details:

The sentiment has a bit of sparkle added to it, you can see that effect in the picture below, along with the chunky glitter accents:

That’s what I think of when I see the gorgeous selection of red patterned papers in the Life in the Country Collection !  I LOVE the dotty red paper and the beautiful scripted floral design paper, … and the pretty gingham….it all makes me think of picking a basket of fresh strawberries in Summer!  And I thought it would be the perfect collection of papers to compliment this happy picture of my little niece Jade, as she’s splashing around in a creek.

This would be my version of a more ‘Clean & Simple’ style of layout.  My pages can often get very fussy and busy, but this time I thought I’d pair the pretty patterned papers with simple white card stock so that they really pop.  Here are a few close-up details of the page…

I used some store bought Prima flowers and mixed them with a handmade bloom I made from the plaid paper called ‘Porch’, I used a Spellbinders die cut called ‘Spiral Blossom #1’ to make the bloom.  I thought it gave the page a more home-spun appeal adding this flower.

I added chipboard swirls from Dusty Attic and I finished them with a dark red paint and Glossy Accents to give them a deep rich shine.  I also did a wee bit of background stamping and light inking with Prima’s Moulin Rouge stamp and Versa Mark Dew Drops Ink.  To complete the ‘country’ look I added just a touch of paper lace doilies and a bit of burlap (I love adding burlap for some nice texture!).  Here are the supplies I used to create this page….

Supplies:  Patterned Paper: Life in the Country (Summer Kitchen, Summer Kitchen-bs, Porch, Berries with Ice, In the Hammock-bs….don’t you just love the names of the papers!!!), Dusty Attic Chipboard, Flowers: Prima (Primrose Sangria), Spellbinders die cut (Spiral Blossom #1), White blooms: Petaloo, Stamp: Prima (Moulin Rouge), Title rub-on: Daisy D’s, Adhesive Pearls: Queen & Co. Ink: Versa Mark (Pretty Pastels Dew Drops).

Thanks for stopping by today and don’t forget, I have a nice give-away going at my blog of the new Maja Design Spring collection called ‘Vintage Spring Basics’.  You can now view the full collection in the products section HERE (these papers are sooooo very beautiful!!!)  If you want to have a chance of winning this gorgeous collection, check out this link before March 31st! ~~~>  Gabrielles Blog
