Hello Maja Fans, a very good morning to you 🙂

It’s Maja here to share a little sea album. Just as you’re reading these words, I’m in the car (hopefully) going North towards the Baltic sea! 🙂 Although we live in the South of Poland, almost in the Tatra mountains, we love the sea and our best holidays are connected with water 😉 And so, after a few year’s break we’re finally going to spend some time by the sea again and I decided to prepare a small album for some of the best shots. And of course I grabbed my favourite marine collection of all time, Life by the Sea:

mdseaAs usually, I tied some ribbons on the wire and also hung a cute seahorse charm, first colouring it a bit with alcohol inks:

mdsea1I used a chipboard lighthouse and stamped the date several times on the cover:

mdsea2It’s still very plain and simple, a beta-version I might say 😉 as I hope to add some keepsakes we’ll buy/find, and the final embellishing will take place when I put photos in it. But I thought it would be a good idea to share such bare album to give you some idea of how I prepare the background for photos.

mdsea3I took seven cardstock pages (two pages for each day) and two chipboard covers and all little pieces and scraps of the collection, so that – believe it or not – I cut little pieces off only two “full” sheets, everything else is composed of scraps! 🙂

So, I do suggest making yourself a cup of coffee now and then sitting comfortably 🙂 Are you ready for a ton of photos?

mdsea4 mdsea5 mdsea6 mdsea7 mdsea8 mdsea9 mdsea11As you can see, I used just papers, some stamps, washi tapes, an edger punch and a few chipboard pieces to embellish the pages. Sometimes a scrap of paper was just a centimetre too short to cover a page, then I’d use a signature strip – I always keep all of them when I cut papers and love to use them 🙂 – to fill the gap.

Here’s how I used the smallest bits of paper: I made tiny flags…

mdsea14…or a small banner…

mdsea13…or a part of a tag that pretends to be hidden beneath papers 😉

mdsea15Call me a miser, but I didn’t even waste a strip of paper that was 3 mm wide! LOL

mdsea12

Supplies:

Maja Design papers: bits and pieces of the Life by the Sea collection.

Other: Edger punch: Martha Stewart; stamps: ScrapBerry’s, Prima; chipboard: Scrapiniec, Magiczna Kartka; washi tapes: Dekoracyjna TaÅ›ma

I hope soon to be able to fill the album with fun photos 🙂

see you!

Hello Maja Friends.

I have been lucky enough to spend one week by the Baltic Sean in early June this year and took tons of pictures of my kids enjoying the see.

Today I have a mini album to share with you and it is full of fun photos onf my son who has seen the sea by the first time. Actually he is quite emotional so I decided to make a mini with those memory keepsakes.

sneakNo doubt Life by the Sea collection was my choice and it gave me the name of my album too.

LifebyThe SeaMain  I used acrylic album as a base for my album, some parts I covered with the papers, the others I left clear.

Life1Clear I combined the papers from 6*6 paper pad and 12*12 as well.

LifebyTheSea1LifebytheSea2LifebytheSea3LifebytheSea4 I put one more photo inside, on the back of this part:

LifebytheSea4inside

LifebytheSea5aand here you can see how I painted the clear acrylic parts with the inks and embellished the page with the leftovers. so simple tip, but I guess it looks wonderful, isn’t it?

LifebytheSea6More mixed media tips were applied at the end of the album, but I admit it was the best way to support those cute photos

LifebyLastLifelastBI am sure you have already possess or will own some photos taken during your vacation time, and especially taken by the sea. so Life by the sea collection is what you reallu need to make a beautiful album and preserve those warm memories.

Hope you have enjoyed watching my album.

Hello, dear Maja Design Fans!

Welcome to the blog today, it’s Maja here to share some inspiration.

Last Thursday my elder son finished his third grade. In Poland it means the end of the first stage of education, now he is going to have new subjects and new teachers. His main teacher will no longer teach him – and that was a very sad goodbye. She was a true teacher with passion, all kids loved her. She is also a very crafty lady and taught kids many crafty techniques, and so we decided to give her a handmade thank you album, in which all kids would place their handmade cards with thanks. The task of gathering and binding all cards together fell to me. And this is what I came up with:

mdksi0I wrapped all the edges of the cover with washi tape and then covered the cardboard with Vintage Summer Basics papers. I placed some beautiful chipboard frame and flower composition, with leaves I die cut from a Coffee in the Arbour sheet:

mdksi1I didn’t want to make the album too decorative, as it was to present kids’ work. So I only delicately stamped the inside covers:

mdksi2As there are 16 children in Kuba’s class, I decided to use some neutral cream paper and add some Maja Design papers stripes and washi tape to decorate each page. For the girls’ pages I used strips of my most favourite Coffee in the Arbour paper – Rose Garden:

mdksi3…and for the boys’ pages I used strips of the Days of December bs. Kuba also used Maja papers for his card 🙂

mdksi4Some kids made really dimensional cards and in the end the binding wire could barely hold them 🙂

mdksi5The moment of handing in the album was very emotional, the teacher was in tears and she really loved the book! I hope she would hold as loving memories of the class as we – parents and kids – would!

Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Vintage Summer Basics: 1932, 1924; Vintage Frost Basics: Days of December bs; Coffee in the Arbour: Rose Garden, Raspberry lemonade bs.

Other: chipboard, album base – Scrapiniec; metal corners: Tim Holtz; stamps: Making Memories; flowers, lace – from my stash.

Kuba’s card: Coffee in the Arbour: Raspberry cupcake bs, Raspberry jam cookies, Blueberry cupcake, Blueberry cupcake bs.

Other: die: Prima, stamp Lemonade.

I have also a card to share. In the middle of the wedding season, I like to have one or two cards at hand, and so when I finished the thank you album, I used some Coffee in the Arbour papers to make this card:

mdslubIt is a simple design, yet papers give it a nice shabby chic look. I layered some papers and distressed all the edges:

mdslub1Then I used my favourite Prima doily die as the background for the flower cluster:

mdslub2I inked the chipboard letters and covered them with glitter to make them more visible against the patterned paper:

mdslub3I hope some young couple would like it 🙂

Supplies:

Coffee in the Arbour: Grandma’s old porcelain, Feel the grass between your toes, Raspberry lemonade.

Other: chipboard: Scrapiniec, glitter: Stickles Ranger, flowers, ribbon – from my stash.

That’s all for today, thank you for visiting the blog and don’t forget to pop in tomorrow 🙂

Hello Maja Design fans and frineds! Larissa here with a cute mini album to inspire you.

A Joyful Wintertime

To create this project I have used a wooden mini album by Embelliscrap – the cutest one – full of doors, windons and lovely urban elements that I decoreted using the gorgeous Vintage Frost Basics line by Maja Design.

Frost-Basics-P

Every corner of this mini shows an adorable village  and I couldn´t resist adding a lot of cutouts and vintage images taken from Maja Design papers along with the photos of an adorable trip to France.

Let´s take a closer look:

This mini has a lot of volume and dimension and I´m planning to use it also as a home decor item to decorate my desk and that´s why I have included a photo on its backside.

And in the picture below you can see all the dimension in this mini album and how it stands by itself….

Summer is here and it’s time to move out in the garden. There’s nothing like enjoying a cup of coffee in the sun and enjoy the moment. The winter will be here before you know it. So here’s a tribute to our very short summer outdoors, based no the new Coffee In The Arbour collection. JuneMBAnd here’s a little reminder of what our mood boards are used for…

Definition mood board – n

a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other

We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truely believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. They are all inspired by a Maja collection, but you are free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme. We highly encourage you to follow the theme of the mood board as well.

We are presenting a new mood board the first Saturday of every month. We will be presenting all participating creations that fulfill the requirements below July 26th. We will also draw a winner who will be winning a Maja Design collection of their own choice in 6×6 or 12×12.

After your creation is done, take a photo and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu without any watermarks (size 600×600). Include your full name and address in the e-mail together with what collection you would like if you win. Don’t forget to write down if you would like 6×6 or 12×12. We need your creation July 23rd at the latest.

We will only publish creations that fullfill the requirements!

And here comes inspiration created by our new fabulous Creative Team…Elena_OlinevichElena OlinevichGabrielle_PollaccoGabrielle Pollacco
