Hello, today I am here to share with you a couple altered Christmas projects, using the Vintage Frost Basics Collection & the Vintage Autumn Basics Collection. The first one is a altered sleigh. I live in a small rural town of about 9000. In this little town we have some great places to shop. One of my fav’s is Balloon Tycoons, Bev carry’s everything in her store. She has scrapbooking supplies, toys, balloons, you name it she has got it!!!Well, with all the altered work I have been doing, Bev asked me if I would do this sleigh for her store,as it had been in her store for a few years, plus she still had others. I took it home & started to work on it & decided I wanted a small teddy bear in the sleigh. So I went back to Bev’s & she had these 2 collectables that have been in her store since 1997. I was so happy & this project even became more fun!!!! On the way home from Bev’s, I stopped in the 2nd hand store & bought 2 crochet doily’s for 25 cents. What more can a girl ask for to get her Vintage looking sleigh!!!!!
I used the Vintage Autumn Basics & Vintage Frost Basics Collections
From the Vintage Autumn Basic Collection I used:No.XIII,No.XIX-BS,No.XVI-BS,No.XXII,No.XXIII,No.XXIII-BS,No.XX,No.XX-BS
From the Vintage Frost Basics I used: 16th of Dec-BS,13th of Dec-BS & the BS of a label
Here are some close ups of detail…….
I started off by altering the sleigh. I used the front of the sleigh as a seat, then made my own front out of a piece of chipboard that I curved……
I then covered the sleigh with Maja paper. I used metallic silver distress paint on the under part of the decorative scroll. My next step was to put a thick coat of crackle on to the sleigh,& while the crackle was still wet I placed the under part of the scroll. On the top part of the scroll I used a brown marker, then TA black gold. I then applied crackle onto the under scroll, placed the top part on & applied a coat of crackle to the top. Once all the crackle had dried I used a brush & applied some TA black gold to bring out the cracks……
The curved front of the sleigh,using ornate corners & hinges plus Tim Holtz jump rings,mini fasteners,screw eyes,chains & tassels,plus a BS of a label……
This is where I used 1 of the columns,to make a step at the back of the sleigh, for the tree, presents & the bunny….
I did my layered tree, using distressed picket fence,MS texture effects, tulle, beads, burlap, & mini roses
On the outside edges of the sleigh I used texture effects & rock candy glitter….
I used a brown marker on the nameplate, then TA black gold. I also cut out pieces of paper I was working with, glued them onto the nameplate, then added a BS of a label…..
Yes!!!!I do not have to wrap any more tiny presents until next year!!!!!
I wet the poinsettia, lifted the edges, then painted it with metallic silver distress paint. I then used a brush & applied some texture effects to the outside edges. For the center I used seed beads…..
The ribbon I used on the bear & bunny is old basic grey ribbon I had. The bear & bunny are so cute….
Here is my 2nd altered project, a advent calendar & bird houses, using the Beautiful Vintage Frost Basics Collection……
From the Vintage Frost Basics Collection I used: 1st of Dec,Days of Dec-BS,11th of Dec,10th of Dec-BS,20th of Dec-BS,6th of Dec,8th of Dec,& the Christmas Die Cut sheet. I also used the Die Cut sheet from the Vintage Winter Collection. The advent calendar, bird houses & chipboard used on this project are Dusty Attic…. Here are some close ups of detail….
The Advent Calender is wood & all the drawers open. Dusty Attic has some beautiful inserts, to go in the calender,I used part of one then decided to play…..
I distressed my Maja Papers, did some stencil work, using texture effects & once that dried I glued it to the sides & top & back of the inside of the Advent Calender. I also made layers, that look like snow drifts, under the star area,(to have the sky & the ground),that you see on the lower photo on the left side. Then I started to embellish & lost my layers….
I love, love all of the Maja die cuts,so that is why I wanted to create a winter Christmas scene using them. I tried my best @ getting it 3D….
On all the paper, except for some of the die cuts I applied rock candy crackle, then sprinkled on some rock candy glitter while the crackle was still wet….
I cut out pieces of the Maja paper, for some of the houses,& the roofs of the houses,on some of the houses I used mini brick. I applied rock candy crackle & sprinkled on some rock candy glitter & once that dried I applied some texture effects onto the roof & sprinkled on some glitter while that was still wet…..
I used texture effects on the stars & sprinkled on some micro beads & glitter while the effects was wet….
I used picket fence crackle, texture effects, micro beads, seed beads & glitter on the trees. I left the fence raw except for putting some effects on the top….
I used picket fence crackle on the lamp posts, rubbed in some brown chalk to bring out the cracks, then added some texture effects to the top. Tip: Martha Stewart Texture effects is really thick & hard to apply,so I mix gesso into mine……
I cut out a couple pieces of paper for the drawers, then inked the edges with a brown ink pad. I then glued the full piece on,the the ripped piece with a piece of lace onto the drawer. I then applied a coat of rock candy crackle & sprinkled on some rock candy glitter….The little knobs are Tim Holtz paper clips(gem clips). I cut off most of the knob, leaving enough to glue into the hole I made on the front of the drawer.
A 3D photo…
Another 3D,& on the lower photo I had to use the Canada Stamp!!!
Now for the bird houses, I loooove the bird houses. So much fun to play with & another little winter scene!!!!
This is where I used the die cuts from the Vintage Winter Collection….
I did the same to the bird houses as I had to the drawers….
I cut out pieces of the Maja paper for the birds, inked the edges, glued them on to the chipboard, applied some crackle & used a pearl for the eye. On the grass clusters I used picket fence crackle on the stems, then rubbed in some brown chalk. On the heads of the grass I applied RC crackle, then sprinkled on some micro beads & gltter. I left the wagon wheel raw, except for the brad in the center, inking the edges & texture effects & glitter on the top….
I punched out scalloped layers for the roof, then applied texture effects to the edges….
I love how the bird houses turned out, with that woodsy, outdoorsy,Winter feel!!!
