Spring is slowly arriving. The trees are waking up, stretching their branches towards the sun… Easter is approaching with new beginnings… Here is our new Mood Board for April.AprilMB

This months Mood Board has an Easter theme and is based on the Vintage Spring Basics collection.

I hope you haven’t missed the second opportunity you get by entering the Mood Board challenge? We will invite our Winter Girl based on the participating projects in our Mood Board challenge. The Winter Girl will receive a temporary seat by our table, the Vintage Frost Basics collection to play with and a posting of her own.

And here’s a little reminder of what our mood boards are used for…

Definition mood board – n

a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other

We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truely believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. They are all inspired by a Maja collection, but you are free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme. We highly encourage you to follow the theme of the mood board as well.

We are presenting a new mood board the first Saturday of every month. We will be presenting all participating creations that fulfill the requirements below April 26th. We will also draw a winner who will be winning a Maja Design collection of their own choice in 6×6 or 12×12.

After your creation is done, take a photo and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu without any watermarks (size 600×600). Include your full name and address in the e-mail together with what collection you would like if you win. Don’t forget to write down if you would like 6×6 or 12×12. We need your creation April 23rd at the latest.

We will only publish creations that fullfill the requirements!

Loving Life_small

Hi everyone! Gabrielle here with you today to share with you my latest Maja Design project.  Yep! I’m one of those scrappers that often forgets to scrap about myself. I have a big family and have lots to scrap about so I don’t often think to do a page about me.  The photo in this layout is one that one of my daughters took of me when we were on a walk together.

Sofiero-P

I used mainly papers I still had in my stash from the Limited Editing Sofiero collection.  I chose colors in the pinks and taupes with just a hint of green.

Loving Life close1

I really hate to waste any of my Maja Scraps so I save anything bigger than a couple of inches for upcoming projects.  I had this piece of ‘Enjoy the Frangrance’ paper left over from another layout I made and decided to keep the angle cut the way it was. I just lightly moistened the paper and gave it some folds along the diagonal edge. When it dries, it gets quite firm and holds it’s shape well.

I added some lacy die cut pieces from Memory box along the cut edges of the paper (Norwich Corner, Quinn Flourish) and tucked them between the papers. Texture was added with some homemade texture paste and a Crafter’s Workshop Stencil (Gothic Romance).  The soft pink in that I used behind the photo is a chalk ink by Ingvild Bolme called Sweet Pea.

Loving Life close3

The blooms were handmade from some pink scraps of Maja papers I had in my stash, I used a pale pink paper from Vintage Summer collection, deeper pinks from Crea Diem and a deep rose from Vintage Summer.  To make the blooms I simply used a scissor to cut a wavey edge circle (in different sizes).  Then I cut a wavey spiral into each circle and rolled them up  (working from the outside – in) to make the roses.  Then just glued down the spiral design to the center part of the circle.  I added a pearl bead to each center.

Maja Design Products:  Sofiero (Enjoying the Fragrance-bs, Princess Margareta’s Garden-bs, The Elegant Winehouse), Vintage Summer Basics (1923, 1922-bs), Crea Diem (Fylld av kärlek), Vintage Autumn Basics (III-bs, XVI), Vintage Spring (6th of May).

Thanks so much for stopping by the Maja blog today and hope you will give these beautiful Maja products a try on your next project! xo

Hello crafters.

This week the weather was so perfect for the early spring that I could easily say each day – What a Lovely Day. This card was inspired by such a day

CardEO  the only reason that I don’t like sunny weather is that I am having issues with making the photo of my project. So here is one more:

CardLovelyDay

I have tired of the cold weather and dull winter, and my soul needs something fresh and airy, so this shabby card is what I need by now.

I used a very soft and gentle Sofiero collection, unfortunately it was a limited edition and I have been keeping it to create a mini album. But one card is somathing that can be a part of mini album too, isn’t it?

Close  I used an acrylic base to create my card. so that the background paper can be seen well too. On the top of the acrylic base I added some layers of papers as well as some dimenisonal paint from Shimmerz. So you might have noticed that my shabby style is a mix of shabby and some mixed media techniques.

InsideCard  Have a Lovely day.

Products used:

Sofiero Collection – Strolling Down the Rose path, Enjoying the fragrance. Prima Marketing flowers, Clear Scraps Acrylic base and the scalloped rame, Shimmerz Dazzlerz and Spritz, ribbon, trinket, crystals.

Hello everyone! Nadia here again with you today !  I hope all is well with you.
Today I wanted to show you a layout I created with the gorgeous Crea Diem collection and the absolutely gorgeous Sofiero from Maja Design . I REALLY love the soft pinks in both these collections and for this layout I added a touch of orange to match my baby girl’s top!

“Delight”

This layout was also inspired by my talented friend Riikka’s tutorial in the Pop & Colours #2 online workshops , and the composition of it was based on Shirel’s take on Riikka’s class. Thank you girls for the incredible inspiration you have provided in these workshops. I am also teaching a class at these workshops and you will find the information on that HERE

I started by preparing the base paper, which is the “Royal Summer Residence” paper from the Sofiero collection , with Gesso. Just a light layer so it withstands the mixed media mediums I will place on it.

I then cut strips from the “Fylld av kärlek” paper from the Crea Diem collection and placed them behind the place where my photo will be. I added some modelling paste with a stencil directly on top and then added some stamping when that was dried.

I then, following the ideas of the tutorial,  took out a number of colour mists, inks etc in the same tones and applied them with some water and brush. Others I applied directly with tip of the mist bottle to give it a different finish.

Here is a close up of the Manor House Creations flowers I have used.

And some more gorgeous purple flowers from Manor House Creations. In the image above you can also see some strips of the Crea Diem papers I used on my background.
