Happy Monday!!  Marilyn here with you today to share this page that I made using  different Maja Design collections : Vintage Autumn Basics, Vintage Spring Basics and Vintage Summer Basics.  I made different techniques in this layout to create dimension and textures.  Let’s go to see the details…

I made the brickwork with some homemade molding paste and a Prima stencil, then I painted with some blue and grey tones plus some of gesso and distress inks.

Morning Maja friends! Here in the NorthEast region of the US, New Jersey to be exact, we’ve been experiencing some wacky winter weather…arctic temps one day then short sleeve weather two days later! Not much snow, but lots of freezing rain (not too good to make a snowman with!). So I decided to pull out my warm, cozy Vintage Frost Basics paper and put together some snowy, wintry cards: AndreaEwenCSC174rM What I love about Maja papers is that I can use the strips at the bottom of the scrapbooking paper for some lovely sentiments, or just smaller type print of the designs located in the paper itself.Jan13DivaDareM I’ll show you the  technique I used on the above cards: Jantut1aYou’ll need heart dies, ink, paper and an embossing folder.Jantut2a Cut out the hearts using a press machine, mine happens to be a Big Kick.Jantut3a Now ink the inside of the embossing folder. This can go one of two ways…If you ink the bumped out design, the snowflakes will be dyed on the inside. If you ink the negative, the surrounding area will be inked and the snowflakes will be highlighted. I’m showing the negative side being inked, however, the first card at the top is where I inked the snowflakes themselves.Jantut4a While the ink is still wet, lay down the hearts on top of the snowflakes. I was careful to put the larger hearts on larger snowflakes and the smaller ones…on the smaller snowflakes. You don’t want a large pattern to get lost on a small snowflake.Jantut5 Now I run it back through the Big Shot.Jantut6Voila! Rustic inked snowflakes…I personally love the look…though in reality it would just be dirty snow! {wink, wink}
Jantut7Here’s a close up of the heart.

And then here’s a ‘clean snow’ card:VFBGiveawayWell, after all the ‘chilliness’ I was ready for a little summertime, so I made this with Vintage Summer Basics.

CSC173mCan’t hurt to put a little summertime out there…maybe the time will pass a bit quicker! The above card was made with half of a doily, some Spellbinders dies, Liquid Pearls and some twine.

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you have a wonderfully creative day! Andrea-sign

Hello all Maja Fans!

I hope you are having a wonderful day 🙂 I’m so thrilled to publish my first post as a Maja Design Creative Team member! It’s been almost a year since I visited here as a special guest and I’m really happy to be back to the Maja family to be a part of this wonderful 2014 team!

And for the easy start, let me share a bunch of cards 🙂 But first I must apologize for the quality of photos – we’re having very bad weather in Poland and there’s just no light to take decent photos. But let’s not feel down in the mouth!

I created the cards using mostly the Vintage Frost Basics collection, as I immediately fell in love with it once I opened my CT box 😉 And so, the first card I made was a Christmas Angels’ Glory:

mdgloriaI used the post card image from the Christmas Die-cuts sheet and made it the focal point of the card, adding a post stamp, clay angels, vintage ribbon and mini jingle bells:

mdgloria2For finishing touches, I added some puffy “snow” and glittery “frost” here and there, and liquid pearls snowflakes 🙂 I really love how it turned out, the wintery vintage look and quiet sound of little bells really made for the festive atmosphere 🙂

mdgloria1

Supplies:

Maja Desing Vintage Frost Basics: 1st of December, 6th of December, 22nd of December, Christmas die-cuts

Other: die (Spellbinders), snow marker (Marvy Uchida), clay angels (Melissa Frances), stickers (7 Dots Studio), punch (Martha Stewart), Frantage embossing powder (Stampendous), Stickles glitter glue (Ranger), Liquid Pearls (Ranger).

In a week’s time we’re going to celebrate the Granmother’s and Granfather’s Days in Poland. And so I created a card for this occassion, featuring an old couple stamp that I coloured with Distress inks.

mdbdAs the image is quite big and takes most of the card’s space, I chose the patterns that would be clearly visible even in a small amount (not to mention how I love stripes and plaids LOL!). I die-cut a little tag for the sentiment and decorated it with mini-roses. I mounted the particular layers on 3D dots and inserted some cheesecloth in between:

mdbd1I also employed a little trick here: as the daisies that mat the roses are only little visible, I actually cut two flowers in halves and thus saved two more! (is it only me saving each small piece if possible? hm…)

mdbd2Supplies:

Maja Design Vintage Frost Basics: 16th of December, 22nd of December, 22nd of Decmeber bs.

Other: stamps (Penny Black, Lemonade), Stickles glitter glue (Ranger), Distress inks (Ranger), die (Spellbinders).

And finally a set of baby welcome cards: I was organising my dies drawer last weekend and dug out those cute baby clothes 🙂 Naturally, I made a boy and girl cards immediately!

mdcloFor the girl’s card I used the lovely pink Vichy plaid pattern for the background – even though it shows very little, the design is still visible a the plaid is so small – love it! I die cut the clothes and “hung” them up on linen string with buttons:

mdclo1I went for the same design with the boy’s card, but using the traditional blues for this version:

mdclo2The design is very simple, so I mounted all layers on 3D dots and distressed all the edges – I love dimension in all my creations 🙂 For the final touch I used some liquid pearls to add buttons and dots in the background.

Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Girl’s card: Vintage Frost Basics –  4th of December, 6th of December bs, It’s Christmas Time – Snowflakes bs, Vintage Summer Basics – 1946.

Boy’s card: Vintage Frost Basics – 13th f December bs, 11th of December, 22nd of December, Vintage Summer Basics – 1946.

Other: dies (Cottage Cutz), stamps (Lemonade), Liquid Pearls (Ranger). Buttons, twine – from my stash.

That’s all for today, have a nice afternoon and see you again soon!

Hi all!

I’m excited to share my first official blogpost for Maja design!
Made this book with the Vintage Frost Basics collection.
Took me some hours but I really love the result!
I don’t like the cold of winter, together with rain, wind and slippery roads
but I absolutely love to take a long walk in fresh fallen snow and
seeing magical views (inside the book) like this!

Let me start with the front of the book:

 Papers used:
10th, 12th, 16th, 17th, 20th, 21th, 22nd of December, Christmas diecuts

Other products used:
Chipboard from Imaginarium Design: frame
Chipboard from Dusty Attic: dripping border and leaves
13 Arts: flowers
Handmade flowers
All the other lovely embellishments, the sleigh, the bird, the bird house,
the stone bow in the front of the book and ski’s
were found at the Christmas decoration sections at local stores.

Hope you liked my first blogpost!
Enjoy your day!

Welcome back to a new exciting year. We have made some changes in our schedule and will be presenting the Mood Board on Saturdays from now on. Here’s the first challenge of 2014, based on the beautiful Vintage Basics series…

Januari
And here’s a little reminder of what our mood boards are used for…

Definition mood board – n

a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other

We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truely believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. They are all inspired by a Maja collection, but you are free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme. We highly encourage you to follow the theme of the mood board as well.

We are presenting a new mood board the first Saturday of every month. We will be presenting all participating creations that fulfill the requirements below January 25th. We will also draw a winner who will be winning a Maja Design collection of their own choice in 6×6 or 12×12.

After your creation is done, take a photo and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu without any watermarks (size 600×600). Include your full name and address in the e-mail together with what collection you would like if you win. Don’t forget to write down if you would like 6×6 or 12×12. We need your creation January 22nd at the latest.

We will only publish creations that fullfill the requirements!

And here comes inspiration created by our new fabulous Creative Team… This time with a treat. Our very last Mood Board creation by Romy Veul…Andrea_Ewen
