A very warm welcome to a sunny Wednesday. This year we have chosen a little different angle of our Guest Team. We are now introducing our Seasonal Girls. Each and one of them represent the current season and are creating projects with the Basics line that matches it.

Do you want to be the Winter Girl and create projects for us with Vintage Frost Basics? I will pick our Winter Girl from our Mood Board contributions. So if you want to be our guest, work our Mood Boards the very best you can and maybe YOU will be given the honour.

But first. Let’s see who our very first Spring Girl is…Larissa-Albernaz

Larissa Albernaz, Brazil

For those of you who don’t know Larissa, here’s what she has to say about herself…

My name is Larissa Albernaz and I´m from São Paulo, Brazil. I´ve been married to my sweet husband Flávio for 13 years and we have an adorable daughter Isabela.

As a paper crafter, I have been scrapbooking for eight years. Along these years, scrapbooking has provided me a great sort of artistic possibilities and a lot of fun! In fact, I love scrapbooking because it provides me to  express myself in style, mixing paper, embellishments, colors, memories and a message.
While scrapbooking I pursue something that has sense to me, which inspires me and that can be different, interesting, cute, creative, colorful and fun!
I adore papers and creating page layouts or 3 dimensional pieces!. One of my life’s little pleasures is to cut, tear and distress papers, creating anything that translates the story I want to tell.

My style is eclectic, crafty. I love adding a lot of layers to my collages, including some paints or inks and I pay great attention to the details.

You can check out my works at my blog: http://www.lariscrap.typepad.com

We are so honoured that Larissa wanted to join us this spring. She has created three gorgeous projects for us. Here’s what she has to say about them…
Hello Maja Design fans!
It´s Larissa Albernaz here with you today super excited to be guest designing for Maja Design. For this special occasion I have prepared three projects – every single one using the gorgeous “Vintage Spring Basics” line. The first one is a layout. The second, a mini album and the last one a card. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed creating with this soft and awesome collection.Chafariz layoutTo put this page together I have used the lovely ” 1st of April” paper from the Vintage Spring Basics Collection as my background. The next two layer were created with some stripes of patterned paper that I previously tore. Then, with  the help of the Sizzix machine I have added a few die cuts.Chafariz layout detail 1Chafariz layout detail 2Chafariz layout detail 3Chafariz layout detail 4As the picture I wanted to portray shows me sitting beside a garden fountain, I have used the “Vintage Antique Garden” resin embellishment.Chafariz layout detail 5
Of course, as the Vintage Spring Basics collection has a soft palette and has Spring as theme, I thought this would be the perfect time to include a beautiful bouquet underneath my garden sink embellishment along with a few chipboards, laces, cristals, blings and pearls.
Now let´s take a look at the card I created.
JoyMaja cardMaja card detail 1Maja card det 2Maja card det 3
This handmade squared card uses a yellow cardstock (6¨X 12 inches) as a base. I scored it and folded at 6 inches. I have adhered one piece of  paper measuring 4 1/2 X 4 inches that I cut from the backside of the April 1st patterned paper to it. After that, I have included a few more stripes from a variety of Vintage Spring Basics papers to build my layers and have arranged a few die cuts and fussy cut motifs along with a few resins, flowers and a wooden embellishment.

Finally, my out of the page project is a mini album. I have used a gorgeous arbor wooden cover and the lovely Vintage Spring Basics line to put this album together.
Spring days bring us those adorable moments when we can go outdoors and take a walk in a lovely garden feeling the soft breeze and the scent of flowers.
What can be more delightful than spending some time siting in a park bench underneath an arbor? Maybe just scrapping the gorgeous photos taken to preserve these moments!!!

The pages inside the album use the Vintage Spring Basics collection by Maja Designs. I trimmed 4 pieces of paper measuring 10 X 4 1/2 inches from a variety of these patterned paper and scored them in halph. After that I have put together these pagesby attaching them with the help of a blue satin ribbon and have decorated each page by working the layers and embellishments. mini folder detailTo add interest, I have also included a few pockets, tags and folders.mini page 1mini page 2mini aberto mini page 3mini page 3 detail

A big thank you to Larissa who created such wonderful art for us. Our Summer Girl will be presented in June.

Hello Maja Friends! It’s so freezing outside in my country, -21 Celcius and the only way to warm up is to enjoy hot tea with a family.

I have made a mini album about some of our evenings during tea time.

TeaPotMain  I used so cozy and sweet Fika collection. It’s more than a perfect for such kind of photos.

I used an acrylic album as a base and left some pages clear, the others were covered with papers, so you can watch the background papers as well. isn’t it awesome? such a good way to save on your papers and to use them properly, so you won’t miss 2 sides.

all those berries, chocolate and lilac tones make me dreaming about having tea time parties outdoors , at our country house

I wanted to create an album for Joel about his first Christmas Eve. Still I wanted it to be rather simple so I would actually finish it. 🙂 I don’t know how many mini’s over the years that I’ve spent years on, simply because I’m not that good at finishing them. The idea was to cover Christmas Eve from morning until evening. So here comes Joel first Christmas album, It’s Christmas Time version.jul1

I really liked this album by Twiddleybitz with the beautiful window on the front. I’ve used a Tim Holtz die for the border and covered it with Distress Stickles Rock Candy. All ribbon and lace are from a LSS. Resin, flower and leaves by Prima. The white and later on golden pearls have all been created with a Pearl Maker pen. jul2

I’ve covered the window ledge with snow paint and also put in an old fashioned “glass” by using a sheet of gelatin. I really love how he peeks out the window.jul3Here’s the first spread… All chipboard inside the album are by Kaisercraft.jul4

The little tag says “Our little sleepy santa” and he truely was. jul5The second spread…jul6The tag says “First Christmas present”. He got a little baby rattle in his stocking.jul7

“The star of the evening”. He looked really cute in his outfit. I’ve used Shimmerz Texturez for the stars. I created the star mask myself, using my Gazelle.jul8Next spread…jul9I’ve used an edge punch by Martha Stewart for the border. The little sign says “Grandma and Grandpa”jul10

I’ve used one of my favourite papers for this page, Merry. The sign says “Mommy and me”.jul11

Last spread…jul12I love the little alpha die cuts. They are so cute. Here they say “Santa’s coming”. jul13

And after a long day… Bedtime. Flower and bling by Prima.

I hope you got inspired to create something beautiful with your latest Christmas memories.

Welcome back to a new exciting year. We have made some changes in our schedule and will be presenting the Mood Board on Saturdays from now on. Here’s the first challenge of 2014, based on the beautiful Vintage Basics series…

Januari
And here’s a little reminder of what our mood boards are used for…

Definition mood board – n

a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other

We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truely believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. They are all inspired by a Maja collection, but you are free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme. We highly encourage you to follow the theme of the mood board as well.

We are presenting a new mood board the first Saturday of every month. We will be presenting all participating creations that fulfill the requirements below January 25th. We will also draw a winner who will be winning a Maja Design collection of their own choice in 6×6 or 12×12.

After your creation is done, take a photo and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu without any watermarks (size 600×600). Include your full name and address in the e-mail together with what collection you would like if you win. Don’t forget to write down if you would like 6×6 or 12×12. We need your creation January 22nd at the latest.

We will only publish creations that fullfill the requirements!

And here comes inspiration created by our new fabulous Creative Team… This time with a treat. Our very last Mood Board creation by Romy Veul…Andrea_Ewen
