Hello Maja Design fans and friends!  Nancy Hanttula here again.  Today I would like to share a Halloween banner that I created using papers from both the Vintage Autumn Basics and Vintage Winter paper collections.

Halloween banner

I started by picking out the papers that I wanted to use to cover the Ranger tags that I would be using in the banner.

supplies

I adhered the papers onto both sides of the tags, inked the edges and then decided on the various embellishments that I wanted to incorporate.

before

I knew that I wanted to use some the heritage photos that are on the Heritage paper in the Vintage Autumn Basics collection…but I wanted to give them a Halloween flair.

with hat

So, after I cut out the pictures I wanted to use, I added some hats.

I used some ephemera pages from Glitz Designs in between my tags to further create the Halloween atmosphere.

center frame

To create the spider web effect, I simply used my hot glue to draw out spider web lines.  The fine strands of hot glue that normally irritate me so, just added to the spider web effect.

Particular papers used here included:  Vintage Autumn basics:  front & back of No. IX, No. XXI (front), and front & back of No. X;  Vintage Winter paper used:  Vi Onskar Er – Wishing You (back).

Other supplies used for this project included:  hole punch; Tombow Permanent adhesive; hot glue & glue gun; Glitz Design ephemera paper; Prima packaging; Prima flowers; EK Success flourish stickers; small orange frame from Michaels; Tim Holtz metal “Halloween” adornments; TH Distress Stain in Persimmon; Prima chalk ink in Dry Sand, Rusty Bucket, Branch Bark, & Black Coal; natural twine; Martha Stewart black lace; and buttons & ribbon from my personal stash.

Hello Maja lovelies! Here in New Jersey, USA we’re getting ready for the kiddos to go back to school…so sad…for them! The summer is winding down, my gardens are looking full and a bit tired. Summer is such a hectic time…you’d think it would be the perfect medium for relaxing, sunbathing and reflection, but it seems we’re always on the go, go, go! I did get a chance to sit down and whittle a little tag from some Coffee in the Arbour collection papers, along with some pretty fabric flowers, pearls, silver accents and lots of gems: AugAnniDay5mdThe base of the tag is a Detailed Scallops Spellbinders die and the banners are courtesy of Verve’s Banner Bundle dies. The stamp is also from Verve, it was one cohesive stamp, but I masked it and broke up the sentiment to make it fit. Speaking of Coffee in the Arbour, I’m going to try to get some relaxation in with a cuppa joe before the madness of ‘school time’ sets in.

Enjoy your day crafty peeps! Andrea-sign

Hello Maja Design fans! Larissa here sharing a new project with you.

I know many countries celebrate Father´s Day on the third Sunday of June but here in Brazil we celebrate fatherhood on the second Sunday of August. So, it´s just around the corner and I decided to create a tag to embellish the gift I´ll give to my own father.

Let me share my creative process with you so you can recreate your own masculine tag.

I have used Vintage Autumn Basics line by Maja Design to create it.

Vintage Basics

First,  cut a rectangle (size 10 X 6 inches) from a Vintage Autumn Basics paper (BAS 643) and take off its corners to create the tag´s basic shape.

tutorial 1

Repeat this step with a different patterned paper or the other side of the same BAS 643 paper, but this time you´ll cut a smaller rectangle so we can work with our layers of gorgeous Maja Design coordinated patterned papers.

tutorial 2

Use your distresser tool and add some texture to its edges (you can do this with all your pieces of paper)

tutorial 3

Let´s paste the smaller one to our base tag shape:

tutorial 4

Cut a few more rectangles (7,5 X 5 inches aproximately from BAS 635 and 636 papers)

tutorial 5

We are going to add more texture and color with the help of a stencil, molding paste, a palette knife and color sprays…

tutorial 6

Spread one coat of molding Paste, take off the mask and add color…

tutorial 7

tutorial 9

To add interest and more texture tear the papers as shown below

tutorial 10

Add a trim, bling and a stripe of paper to the edge

tutorial 10 a

Now you can put everything together

tutorial 11

Decorate the tag with blings, trims, shabby resins, cutouts, flowers, wood embellishments and junkyard findings.

tutorial 12

Have fun while working the details – each one makes your tag unique!

tutorial 13

I hope you´ve enjoyed this tag and tutorial! Have a wonderful day!
