Hi Maja friends, I’m very exited to bring you my first post on the Maja team. Today I have a layout to share that I made with a photo of a friends Son. I don’t often make “Boy” layouts and I ended up putting lots of flowers, lace and pearls on it, I went with a Green and Grey colour combo to try make it less feminine.

P1070371 adjusted

I started by trimming the edges off and distressing the 1946 paper from the Vintage Summer Basics collection. I layered this on to the 11th of March paper from the Vintage Spring Basics Collection, before I glued them together I cut the middle section out to use to layer under my photo. I also used the 10th of March paper as well to layer under the photo.

I added colour to the background with mists and Gelatos, with texture from using modelling paste and stencils. Once I was happy with my level of colour I glued down my paper layers, I distressed the edges of each piece first. I tucked some lace amongst my  layers before I added my flowers and some metal embellishments.

I finished off by adding some pieces of chipboard and pearls.

Courage Layout by Irene Tan 1

Hello Maja Design fans! It’s Irene here with you all today. I realized that I’ve not shared a layout with you all for sometime already. Therefore, for today’s post, I would like to share a layout featuring Maja Design’s “Walking in The Forest” collection.

To create this layout, I’ve chosen most of the neutral tones with a hint of blues and orange. To add a splash of colors to this layout, I’ve misted its background with some blues and browns.

To add some different elements to this layout, I’ve used some acrylic and chipboard pieces. The burlap flowers also adds tons of textures to this layout.

Hello Sweeties
Today I’m up on Maja Design blog with a new family photo. It’s a photo of my paternal grand-mother and her foster father taken at the end of 10’s, beginning of the 20’s.

I started to add a thin layer of white gesso. Then I added a design with Modeling Paste and a stencil.

When the Modeling Paste was dry, I added clear Crackle Paste here and there and let dry again.

In the meantime I die-cut the gears, leaves, branches and colored the flowers.

I painted the gear with black gesso and added Rusting Powder.

After having assembled all the elements of the page, I finished with some random stamping, splatters of black gesso and some black glass glitters.

Cathy - Laughter - Enjoying Outdoors Collection

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all well. Today I would like to share a layout that I have completed using the latest collection from Maja Design…Enjoying Outdoors. I took this opportunity to create another page for my brother’s album that I have been working on. This photo is of my siblings many years ago with one of the dogs we had growing up.

The photo dictated my title. I used a Blue Fern title and applied two coats of gesso. Then I used some Gelatos and rubbed it in with my fingers to create the ombre effect. It was so easy to achieve!

Every part of the papers has potential. The title strips formed my journalling. I also used some left overs to create some banners as shown. The butterfly was stamped using a script stamp from Bobunny to give it a vintage look.

The collection has so many beautiful greens and purples. I selected approx three papers and inked the edges using walnut stain distress ink. I selected a dark, a medium and a light in terms of pattern so that they wouldn’t compete too much with each other. As it is the outdoor, I used peeled paint distress ink as part of my background and the applied TCW chicken wire reversed stencil on top. I also did some stamping and added some random pieces of printed tape in places.

I can never get enough of flowers! I have used some Green Tara flowers here. These are called azaleas and I love that they are not too bulky but have enough dimension and also compliment the papers perfectly!
