Hello everybody! So nice to be back here on the Maja blog! I have been working on a new layout using the Life in the Country collection. It is a summery, lovely collection with gorgeous patterns and colours.

I have enchanced the white washed colours in the papers by adding some more with elements to the page, like the Blue Fern Studios chipboards and the Sizzix dies

Adore narbild 1I also added some flowers and layered them to create dimension and different colours.

I created a circular photo mat by layering different Life in the Country papers and a doily.

Spread A Little Love & Sunshine…

Hi Maja fans! Today I have created a very sunshine-y, love-y, happy card for you! I must admit, after Valentine’s Day, it is nice to get away from the traditional colors of love and do something a little different. So I chose a yellow & sand color combination for this love card…Making it a perfect gift for a wedding, a new baby or just because!

love 1

For this card, I used the beautiful Life in the Country Collection which is full of homespun designs. I love that even among the bright patterns and colors of this collection, one can find beautiful, subdued hues like this gorgeous gingham/striped print which I have used today!

love 2

I used the “In The Hammock” paper, layering both the front and backside of this lovely print for the base of the card. At the top, I added a die-cut circle border from some yellow pieces of scrap paper I had, and I added a matching yellow ribbon, along with a vintage button.

Just below that, I adhered a die-cut banner with a very sparkly, special little heart. I love how the vintage glass glitter mimics the color of the paper and adds a touch of shiny happiness to the card.

love 3

Just below that, I stamped a sentiment using some TCM stamps, and layered it onto an embossed and hand-cut doily. To finish the card, I layered lace, Maya Road trim, a pearl flourish and a pretty little trinket key (which used to be on one of my favorite necklaces that had seen better days).

Just below that, you can see some of the beautiful Maja paper peeking out in a lovely scallop, which I hand cut following the lines of the embossing folder I used. A little flower and button combo finish off this quick, and fun card!

Supplies: Maja Design Paper (In The Hammock), Maya Road bubble trim, White cardstock, ZVA pearl flourish, Dienamics circle border die, Papertrey Ink In Stitches Die, The Craft’s Meow stamp. Buttons, Lace, Trinket Key, Ribbon, and Yellow Paper are from my stash.

I hope this little card adds a touch of love and sunshine to your day!

Until Next Time,

Good day, blog friends! Happy Valentine’s day to those of you who celebrate this special day with your loved one(s)!  I have found that most of us card makers do not actually give cards to others (me!), even on these ‘card-giving’ occasions. One of the reasons is that most of my cards are very thick and cannot be mailed without a box. I have to say, though, if I’m going to see the person, I will hand-deliver a handmade card. Speaking of thick cards, this one is no exception! I used Maja Design’s lovely ‘Life in the Country‘ collection of papers and followed Mojo Monday’s design:

GoodThingsMajaFeb13MajaCleanI used Summer breeze, Sowing Seeds (bs), In the Hammock (bs) and Close to the Lake (bs) from Life in the Country. I distressed all the edges and added a bit of stitching to the inner panels. The flower accent consists of a crocheted flower, a Baker’s Twine bow, paper flowers and a Zva Creative crystal flourish. The sentiment is from Verve’s Brighter Days set.

Here is another card I made, more on the ‘Clean and Simple’ side for me, using Vintage Summer Basics 1935 (bs) paper. Featuring a few of my favorite things… paper flowers, Zva Creative crystals and some added lace, tulle accents and a paper doily:

Lastly, I have two projects I made both with the same theme, however one is a tea bag holder by itself and the second one is a card with the tea bag holder adhered to the card base. Both creations feature the Ska vi ta en fika collection:

The twine bow keeps the cover closed, so when that’s untied, the flap lifts up and there is a bag of tea inside.

majaCleanteaholderI thought this was a cute gift for a friend. I used Lejas cafe, Kaffe tack, En kopp te, Havrerutor – bs papers. The stamps are courtesy of Paper Sweeties. I expounded on this idea and added the holder to a card, pictured below:

PaperSweetiesFeb14PeekMajaCleanThese papers are Cheesecake – bs,Två fröknar & Två fröknar – bs. Lots of pearls on this card, both solid and liquid, some more lace and the trinket in the middle was pulled off of a discarded Christmas ornament. I simply colored the gemstone with a purple Copic marker to match the papers. I like the fact that I could fold over the top flap of the tea bag holder and the back is a wonderfully coordinated pattern to go with the whole card. I have to say that I just love my Maja papers!

Thanks for joining me today!

The Christmas carols are starting to fade away and the New Year’s resolutions are here to stay.
Winter has arrived in Uddevalla, Sweden. I’m sitting in my office at Maja Design with a snowstorm playing around outside my window. The flurries are dancing in the air before slowly falling to the ground. Our beautiful winter landscape inspired me to make our first challenge influenced by this cold season.

We have finally come to the moment where I am going to present our Maja Design challenge concept, this time filled with the light colours of winter…

I’m very proud to present our first mood board…January

Definition mood board – n
a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other

We will be using mood boards for our challenges. We truely believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration.

The January mood board has been inspired by the Vintage Winter collection, but you can use any Maja Design collection you like as long as you follow the colour scheme.

Here’s some information of how this is going to work…
The mood boards will be presented the first Tuesday every month. We will be presenting all participating creations that fulfill the requirements below January 29th. We will also draw a winner who will be winning a Maja Design collection of their own choice in 6×6 or 12×12.

After your creation is done, take a photo and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu without any watermarks (size 600×600). Include your full address in the e-mail and what collection you would like if you win. Don’t forget to write down if you would like 6×6 or 12×12. We need your creation January 27th at the latest.

Here is some inspiration that our lovely Creative Team has created for us.AndreaEwenAndrea Ewencamillaekman
