Today it is a great day.

Today it’s time for me to publish my first post for Maja Design and this I have been looking forward to.

In this Edition of Ett Trykk (Norwegian Scrapbooking Magazine), I have a box and a baby mobile with small mini 3D plane. Both of these are made with beautiful pattern paper from Maja Design. This are a great christening gift, whether to give it to a Baby Girl, Baby Boy or Baby Twins <3

This was originally a black box, inside of it there was a birtday gift from a very good friend. I unpacked the gift and desided to do something about the box.

On the Box I have used a lovely pattern from a great series called Nyhavn, the paper called Sitting at the Dock. One side of the sheet looks like marble and characterizes most of the box. In the corners I have used the other side and a punch from Martha Stewart to get some pattern in the corners.

I’ve spent four silver feet which I have placed in the corners in the bottom of the box. A white I have placed in the corners in the bottom of the box. A white pearl cord attached in between stance and up round the box as well. At the bottom of the lid I have a lovely white ribbon around.

On the top of the lid I made one small plateau in the same paper that I have used on the box. Before I glued it, I used one sheet from The Vintage Baby Paper Pad, on the top, then I attached the small plateau. Here I have also used whith pearl string and the same white ribbon.

Up on the plateau, I have one pair of baby shoes. On the shoes I have used the clear Wink of Stella Brush, for a glittery effect. The baby shoes are decorated alike, besides the blue and pink button of a bear and the bling on the bow.

On each side of the box I’ve decorated in typical girl and boy color. Blue and Pink. These are flowers from Wild Orchids.

In between the flowers I have used two different leaf dies from Memory Box.

On each side, I have used a pink and blue safety pin, as an little detail <3

On the back of the shoes I have made a large bow of a lace from kaBoks <3

On the bow, I have attached a large white butterfly, this is a sett of dies from BoBunny. I’ve also attached one on the front of the box as well.

You open up the lid, you will also see the same ribbon I have used on the outside of the box.

Below it, I glued white pearl string. This I have done because the baby mobile I have made will fit in the box, and the lid must not go so far down.

Then over to the gift <3

I have created a baby mobile which one can have over a child bed. This Baby Mobile is created with 8 small mini planes, created by The Vintage Baby Paper Pad. Four plane are made in pink tones and four are decorated in the blue tones. None of the planes are equal.

The planes hang down with fishing line, which is attached to the inside of the planes.

This is a tutorial I have developed my self, Here is a link to a larger plane in my Blog.

On the planes you will find detals like wax thread, half pearls and wood.

This is the Baby Mobile along with the box <3

A lovely Christening presents <3

Hello Maja fans!

I’m back in today to share a project I made with the limited edition Nyhavn collection. This time, it’s using one of the many IKEA frames I have around the house and turning it into a display piece in my living room.

Here is the project:

Although I’ve not been to Nyhavn before, looking at the papers remind me of the seaside places we visited in Perth. One of these was the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse located right at the southern tip of Western Australia and it’s where the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean meets. We didn’t see a lot of boats on our way in, but the place is just as rich in history and we spent some time looking out for migrating whales.

The frame was originally black but I coated it with white gesso and that gave a beautiful rustic finish which added to the seaside feel. To create my layers, I used strips of papers from the Nyhavn collection and selected them to match the colors in my photo. I left these layers untouched by mediums as I wanted the designs and colors to show.

A little detail which unfortunately I didn’t capture very well in this photo. The grey world map is a bonus sheet found in the collection pack and I deliberately cut out a piece with the map of Australia and tucked it behind the coral chipboard. The different chipboards I used were colored to match the other paper layers.

Some background work I did – creating resist with embossing powder and painting with water colors over. I left some of the more intricate details on the Maja Design background paper untouched.

Parts of my floral clusters. I tucked in a few shells which we had collected from another beach in Perth. One thing I realised is that we use so many products to embellish our projects that we forget the most basic and meaningful of embellishments are those that we collect on our trips and from our life events. Just as scrapbooking is about collecting memories, keeping these memorabilia is also a huge part of remembrance.

That’s all I have for today. Thanks for dropping by!

Hi Maja fans!

Today I’m up on the Maja Design blog and I have for you a layout created with the limited edition Nyhavn collection. We’ve seen a lot of the new Summer Crush last month so I thought I would like to feature a slightly older collection but just as perfect for your summertime adventures.

IMG_0122

I really love the color palette in this collection – it’s warm and comforting, yet fun and outdoorsy at the same time. So I chose this photo of Hubby and Eldest playing on the tyre swing, the two of them spending some precious time together. Later I realised, even the colors from the photo match the papers too.

More details in the close-ups:

IMG_0123

My floral cluster on top of my paper layers. You can see lots of background work – stenciling, painting with Ayeeda matt paints, splattering, stamping and heat embossing to create resist. My chipboard was also colored very lightly with gelato so that it blends nicely into the embellishments, allowing the colors from the background and papers to stand out.

Another mini cluster where you can see the gorgeous designs on the Nyhavn papers. I’ve also layered the info strips and used those as subtitles. The sentiments were just perfect for the moment I have captured.

My balancing cluster. The leaves were die cut and tucked under the flowers and all to create a nice little bouquet.

Crafting has always been a passion of mine, and since I discovered the amazing world of papercraft years ago I have been completely addicted to it. I love the shabby chic- and vintage style and most of my projects are characterized by the use of vintage photos, lace, flowers and romantic details

Hello Maja Fans. Elena is here with you today and I have  a Layout to share with you. I found some funny photos of my little boy and it seems that the Layout turned to be a bit serious one.

YouAre_ElenaOlinevich_MajaDesignLOI tried to start working with this awesome wooden background from Nyhavn collection. Absolutely great for some texture on the background.

However I used some floral patterned papers to create those heart dies as well as crown papers for some layers.

Nyhavn_ElenaOlinevich_closeI added some flowers, well I guess it doesn’t look girly. What do you think?

img_0319Some more cute heart shapes

plane2_ElenaOlinevichLoI also used plane chipboard as an embellishment and colored a bit the background.

Hope you have liked my Layout.

Products used – Nyhavn collection – Old Townhouses, Romantic Lunch, King’s Square, Sitting at the dock; Prima Marketing flowers and Color Blooms, Wycinanka chipboard.
