Hello Maja fans!  Gabrielle here with you today to share my latest layout using a variety of Maja design collections.  Green has always been one of my favorite colors to scrap, but lately I’ve been scrapping a lot of pinks and purples.  I thought it was high time to play with some of my old favorite green toned papers mixed with some soothing neutrals.

I love the warm green in the Ska vi ta en Fika collection, so I used one as my backdrop for my layout design.  I then chose one of the neutral papers from the same collection for my next layer.  I wanted to play a bit with the side edges so I chose to use a chipboard Zipper design From Dusty Attic, moistened the sides of the papers and pulled back the paper in the center, creating small pleats.  I then attached the zipper chipboard pieces (painted with some Bronze 3D paint (Scribbles) and glued it behind the edges of the paper.  The title and the number chippies are from Dusty Attic as welll.

There are some tag images in the Walking in the forest collection, so I cut these out to used along the top of the photo as a page accent and a place to put a little journaling.  I also cut another tag out of a Coffee In the Arbour paper and stamped one of my Signature Word stamps ‘fabulous’ that I recently released.  (My word stamps can be found at The Scrapbook Diaries).

I wanted to keep the page accents naturalistic so I chose a new Dusty Attic chipboard piece called Wildflowers #3 to add alongside my photo of my two little great nieces.

And finally in the corner of the photo I accented with a few blooms from a tin of flowers from Recollections.  I did a bit of background stamping as well with some green Moss Lawn color from Ingvild Bolme.

Maja Design Products used in this project:  Ska vi ta en Fika? (Smulpaj m Applen, Havrerujor, Pratstund), Walking in the Forest (Klippark, Flannel Shirt), Vintage Autumn Basics (XVI), Vintage Frost Basics (Days of December), Coffee in the Arbour (Feel the Grass Between Your Toes).

Thanks so much for stopping by the Maja blog today!  Hope you get a chance to play today! xo

Hello Maja Design fans and welcome to the blog today 🙂

It’s Maja here to share the shadowbox I made, inspired by the chipboard quotation I bought recently:

mdshadFor the background I used papers from the Vintage Autumn Basics and Vintage Frost Basics. I inked and distressed all the edges, added a few strokes of white gesso here and there and also glued torn strips of paper for an even more distressed look 🙂

mdshad4Then I placed the chipboard quotation and the photos and then started to fill the shadowbox with embellies:

mdshad3mdshad10The small glass vial contains the letter I wrote to my boys – it’s not sealed so they can open it and read any time 🙂

mdshad5I also decorated the outside of the box: the top is covered with flowers and gauze:

mdshad8…and the back is decorated with stamps, stenciling, clock faces and numbers that mark the boys’ age at the time the photos were taken.

mdshad9The shadowbox can be a nice home decor item, and it’s so fun to make! 🙂

Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Autumn Vintage Basics: No. XIV, No. XV, No. XVI. Vintage Frost Basics: Days of December, 10th of December, 2nd of December, 9th of December. Vintage Summer Basics: 1936.

Other: Chipboard shadowbox and elements: Scrapiniec; flowers: Flora Bella; metal elements: Retro Kraft, Tim Holtz; stencil: Crafter’s Workshop; glass vial: Tim Holtz; stamp and wax: Papermania.

Hello Maja Fans and welcome to the blog today!

It’s Maja here to share a little birthday set I created for my husband. He celebrated his birthday last week and I wanted to prepare some nice packaging for the presents we bought him. And here’s what I came up with:

set16But it’s not just a decorated paper bag 😉

set17It’s a 2-in-1 paper bag! 😀 The tag is removable, so it serves as a birthday card too 🙂

set18set19And here’s how I made this set: I started by trimming the chosen papers (1), then I stamped that same image in two various sizes on the smallest panels (2). I added some texture pattern (3) and finally distressed the edges of all the panels (4):

setaI worked on the tag first. I needed to locate the place for the paper washer, so I layered all the tag panels and placed them over the tag base (1), turned it over and punched through the visible hole (2). Then I attached the washer over the hole (3) 🙂 Finally I decorated the tag so that there weren’t any elements sticking out in the lower part – otherwise the tag might not slide in and out easily (4):

setbThen I went on to work on the bag panel. I layered two smaller panels and started decorating them (1). I arranged three flowers in a U-shape line (2), so that the flower from the tag goes in the middle when the tag slided in (3). Why I didn’t layer the largest panel yet? Because it would come into contact with the tag and I didn’t want the flower stems or the brad arms to hinder the tag sliding (4).

setcWhen I finished decorating the front of the bag panel, I layered the largest panel and had two elements of the bag decor matching in colours and style:set12I placed the tag under the bag panel so that the flower clusters matched, and holding the two pieces together, I turned them over. Then using the foam tape I formed a kind of sliding guide for the tag, like so:

set14Then I added a few supporting pieces of foam tape and attached the decoration to the bag:

set15That was easy, wasn’t it? 🙂 Now you can follow my steps to make your packaging unique 🙂

Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Vintage Frost Basics: 2nd of December, 9th of December, 21st of December; Vintage Autumn Basics: No. XIV, No. XVI.

Other: Flowers: Flora Bella; dies: Die-Namics, Cheery Lynn Designs; stencil: Crafter’s Workshop; stamps: Tim Holtz.

See you soon 🙂

Hello Maja Design friends and welcome to the blog today 🙂

When I was pregnant with my younger son, some friends frightened me with visions of what was going to happen after he would be born: my elder son would be two, going through his 2-year-old rebellion, giving us hard time and might even pose a serious threat to the newborn because of jealousy. I must admit for a short time I was a bit worried, but I couldn’t believe my quiet, sweet boy could change so much just because a new baby arrived. And I wasn’t wrong! 🙂 He is the best elder brother one could imagine, and the bond between my boys is really strong. As you can often see, that is the subject of my layouts, and this one as well:

mdtogetherDo you recognise the papers I used? 🙂 Yep, that’s Vintage Frost Basics! I’m always sorry to put beautiful wintery papers away, but Maja Design collections are so versatile you can use them all the year long 🙂 And so I took two sheets for the background, distressed the edges and stamped some crackles, and then began to layer more papers 🙂mdtogether1Apart from ready made flowers, I made two of them myself from Maja papers: the smaller one is die cut and the larger punched using a 6-petal flower. I put some pearl centres in both of them and so I had custom flowers perfectly matching the colours and patterns 🙂

mdtogether2I added a couple of embellies to complete the arrangement: some metal charms, acrylic bulbs, a button and a sticker. I also used some decorative tags (from the December calendar sheet) as decorative elements, I love the ornate shapes! The numbers are hidden under the papers and only those fancy shaped edges are visible 🙂

mdtogether3To use up the scraps of paper, I made a small banner – I punched some triangles, layered them and distressed and glued a piece of wax string shaped into a flourish 🙂

mdtogether4Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Vintage Frost Basics: 10th, 11th, 12th, 16th and 21st of December, Days of December.

Other: Flowers, resin and acrylic embellies, wire heart: Prima; wooden moon: Stempell&Kartoon, title word: SODAlicious; stamp: Kaisercraft; sticker: Heidi Swapp; button, metal charms: from my stash.

Some time ago I and the boys talked about their day at school and something Kuba helped Filip with, and I said: See, Filip? What would you do without your brother? And he answered seriously: I wouldn’t want to live.

🙂

have a nice day and see you soon!
