Hi there everyone, thanks for popping by Maja design blog , we absolutely love having you here . Today I am sharing TWO Projects with you  …. A Tag and a richly colored Easel Card, created with the Walking in the Forest Collection and the Vintage Autumn basics Collection.       We are having our winter season here in Australia and I wanted to create something warm and bright . I have chosen a combination of Denim blue and Deep Burnt Orange, with touches of rust.card by Heather Jacob     I stacked my elements combining Maja Design papers with diecut leaves, and various other diecut shapes, together with some chipboard twigs . I kept with the warm rusty theme and colored my chipboard in Rusty ink . card by Heather Jacob       I feel the orange and blue are a Perfect marriage . These blues flowed together  beautifully and I added some metal buttons each side of my cluster .  inside view of card by Heather Jacob       The inside of my card is stamped with the word celebrate with a rusty inked swirly chipboard piece to hold the easel in place .

card cluster by Heather Jacob   I also want to share another project with you …. Recently some friends of ours had a HOUSE WARMING party…. and I created this Tag to attach with our gift ….again I used Walking in the Forest Collection.

Tag by Heather Jacob

Tag By Heather     The base of my tag is made from Chipboard, to create a strong foundation. I covered it in ‘Jeans’ – and proceeded to stack various diecut pieces, using various papers from the Walking in the  Forest Collection.  Tag by Heather Jacob        I love the rich colors of this Collection and the deep blue embraces the Rusty toned chipboard perfectly, creating a warm toasty energy in this cold wintery weather  . tag By Heather Jacob      I decided to add a circle with their house  number 28,  to make it personal to them.

Maja Design materials used Walking in the Forest -Jeans, Cozy Scarf , Seasons Last Birdsong – Vintage Autumn Basics – No XX111, plus bs .  Thanks so much for popping over here at Maja Design Blog and thanks for looking at my creations . I hope I have inspired you in some way …. bye for now until next time, big big hugz to each of you x my signature

Hello everyone! How are you all going? I hope this post finds you well 🙂

This is my second layout for Maja Design for June. Once again, I used the neutrals from one of their collections Vintage Summer Basics.

  Vintage-Summer-Basics-P

“Fly”

I love this colour combination because I feel that it makes the picture stand out. Especially when the picture is bright like that.

I used some modelling paste and stencils in the background and coloured the page with 13arts Yellow Amber mist. In some areas I watered it down so it looks lighter.

The base paper is “1915” from the Vintage Summer Basics collection and I also used some scraps from a piece of “Mountain Ash” from the Walking In The Forest collection.

Hello Maja Design fans and friends, it is Nancy Hanttula here.  Today, I am sharing another layout that I created for my friend to give as a graduation gift.

Senior Pic

I used the gorgeous Walking in the Forest paper collection.

Walking-in-the-forest-P

I tried very hard to consciously take photos of every step of my process creating this layout so that I could share it with all of you.  I will have to admit though, apparently I become a bit impatient from step to step and don’t always take the time to assure my photos are properly in focus….so I hope you excuse me…you may see just a few blurs along the way.

#1 – I knew that I wanted to use at least 2 different patterns on the background (Knitted Sweather & Bjork-Birch).  When I do this, I don’t like to waste any of the paper by layering too much paper that just gets hidden and therefore, “wasted.”  So I usually just use a piece of solid cardstock and glue the papers onto the cardstock as shown in the following photo.

one

Then I just layer the final piece over the final gap in the cardstock.

two

#2  Next I used a Martha Stewart circle punch on the 6 inch setting to punch out a circle out of the paper Frisk Luft – Fresh Air.

4

My plan wasn’t to use it in this exact form but to cut out the center and use it as a frame.  I sketched a basic circle with a pencil and then cut it out with my X-acto knife.

5

And then I set it aside.

#3 Next, I took several of my mists and Tim Holtz Distress stains and went to town on the background. – specific supplies used:  Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels (Candy Corn); Lindy’s Stampgang:  Yellow Rose of Texas, Burnt Umber, Ponderosa Pine Olive; Tim Holtz Distress Stains:  Wild Honey, and Gathered Twigs.

8

#4 Then using FolkArt acrylic paint in Warm White…

10

.I painted the edge of a corrugated piece of cardboard to use to paint a frame around the actual photo.   I also used the foam brush and the same paint to paint a rough frame around the entire layout.

11a

#5  Using the left-over paint, I painted onto a Prima acrylic chevron patterned stamp (#980078) and added stamped details throughout the page.

17a

#6 Next, I cut some film negatives, that a friend had given me to use as embellishments, in half.

13

I tucked them under the paper layers and adhered them with glue.

14

15

#7 Then I cut out some die cut embellishments from the Klippark and inked them with Prima/Ingvild’s chalk ink, Dark Bark.

16a

I added some staples and some extra details to further embellish the pieces.

16c#8 Now it was time to put down the photo, add the circle frame, & add a butterfly I purchased at Michael’s craft store.

12

#9 I added some Tim Holtz Distress Stickles in Vintage Photo to add some extra dimension to the circle frame.

18

#10 I also added some Tim Holtz Remnant Rub-ons and the title using Prima wood alphas.

20

#11  I decided that I needed to add some brown painted chevron stamping using the same Prima stamp in various spots for some contrast.  I used FolkArt paint in the color Coffee Bean.

19

#12  The last details added to this layout were some small areas of sewing machine stitching.

21

And all those little and big details make up the entire page. 🙂

Senior Pic

I hope you enjoyed this walk-through into the process of how I created this layout.  And I hope that perhaps it has inspired you to create something amazing today!

Have a wonderful weekend! and be sure and stop by tomorrow as I take you on a tour through my very own personal creative space.

Good morning! I hope all is well with you 🙂

I decided to use a bit of a different colour combination for my projects for Maja Design this month! I think I love thei light colours of their collections so much that I thought I was using them A LOT! LOL!

So I tried some new colours. This is the result using Walking In The Forest, an awesome collection! Walking in the Forest

After prepping the page with clear gesso etc, I started by applied some BLACK Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste and a Crafters Workshop stencil. When that dried up I added some stamping and some colour.

I then layered my papers, embellishments etc before finishing with my photo and some black splatters with black Ink.

Here are some close ups..
