Maja Gift Bags etc Feb

Hello there Maja fans, thanks for calling by. Today I thought I would do something a little different for me & I have two sweet little gift bags & a card to share with you.

gift bag 1

For this gift bag I have used the  “11th of April” paper from the “Vintage Spring Basics” collection. I had purchased a “We R Memory Keepers Gift Bag Punch Board” & wow I sure did have some fun making these gift bags. Once I got the hang of how to use it, it made making gift bags sooo easy.  I have used some raffia for the handles & decorated this one  with some flowers, a bow & a couple of little hand cut doileys. I then added a sentiment sticker  & a dragonfly, and hey presto, all finished. 🙂

gift bag 2

For my second gift bag I used the “10th April” paper also from the “Vintage Spring Basics” collection. This range is soooo beautiful & what better colour to team with these gorgeous shades of mauves & purples, but green !! My favourite colour. Again I made this on the “gift bag punch board”. I  have also used flowers, a bow & I die cut some various elements to finish it off. I enjoy making my gifts look pretty so a co ordinating gift bag & a card are the perfect way to achieve this.

Lastly I have this super simple card I made using the “Garden Moments” paper from the “Enjoying Outdoors” collection. Even though this paper was from a different paper collection I think it teams perfectly with my gift bags. This particular paper is a card makers dream. (see it below) These images are just devine & are perfect for a card. To add a little dimension I stuck a little posie of mauve roses tied with a little string on the front  a few sequins 🙂

Hi my name is Di Garling. I am married to a very patient man, I have two grown up sons, two grandchildren & a little dog. I owned & operated a Scrapbook shop for eight years here in Australia until I recently sold it & retired. I think retirement is the best kept secret. I love it, it gives me lots of time to enjoy my craft. I still teach scrapbooking & cardmaking once or twice a week, so all in all I am as busy as ever & wouldn't have it any other way.

Maja Design  is Sponsoring CSI – Colors, Stories, Inspiration

Maja Design is very excited to be the newest sponsor for CSI – Colors, Stories, Inspiration.
What does that mean?  Simple – that means YOU have a chance to win a prize from Maja Design each month when you play along at CSI – Colors, Stories, Inspiration.
What is CSI – Colors, Stories, Inspiration?   CSI is a scrapbooking challenge that inspires you to try new colors schemes and to tell your stories. The Case Files provide inspiration that will get you thinking about scrapbooking in a whole new way – AND get you thinking of Maja Design in a whole new way as you try and solve the case and the challenge using all the Maja Design collections.
A new Case File opens for investigation the first, second, and fourth Friday evenings of each month at 6:00 p.m. EST. Come join the Maja Creative Team, the CSI Design Team and CSI members in a live chat every reveal night!

Please note that to win a prize, you need to follow the challenge guidelines and upload by the due date published.
Let’s see how Creative Team Member, Jennifer Snyder, solved Case File 190
Look Who is Hiding in the Woods?  It’s Escape Kitty
Jennifer’s cat, Escape Kitty, is her lovely assistant today to solve the case.
First – Jennifer chose Vintage Summer Basics collection to help with the color palette.   She used Vintage Summer Basics sheet 1903 and 1935 ( sides “A” and “B”) as her backgrounds

Next Jennifer and her kitty chose 3 elements from the evidence list to solve the case;

  • she added leaves
  • scallops in the doily dies
  • wood with the piece of birch bark she added
On to the testimony section of the challenge.   Jennifer’s inspirational word is  “companion”.   Her journaling is hidden using a journal tag she created as see below.   The tag read’s ” My Sweet Kitty Companion- Your favorite thing to do it to run out of the house and hide in the bushes pretending to be a “big game” hunter.  Sneaky litte Kitty. “
Here are some additional close ups.  This photo really shows the dimension added by using a pierce of birch wood bark.  It has been adhered to the page by gluing a piece of cardboard to the back of the bark.

I think you will agree…Maja Design + CSI = Great fun and the Perfect Pair!

Don’t forget to upload your artwork to our Facebook page as well so the entire Maja Family around the world can see how you solved the case and can admire your art.

Greatful For You

Hi, today I have a layout to share using the gorgeous Maja Designs Vintage Spring Basics Collection. I also made a video tutorial to go with this layout so I hope you enjoy it

Here is my video:

I used the 6th of March paper as my background paper, then to the 8th of April paper I ripped a diagonal piece from the bottom and distressed the top.

I cut a strip of the 4th of April paper to layer on top. I used pieces of the 4th of April and 9th of April to make a mat for my photo. I cut two strips of lace to layer under the paper strip in the middle, plus a couple of lace flowers to stick out from under my paper layers

I added colour using Gelatos in metallic blueberry and metallic grape through a stencil, plus some splashes of pale purple and blue mists.

Next I mixed heavy white gesso with light texture paste and put that through two different stencils. I mix the gesso and paste together because I want a whiter finish in the paste.

Blue fern chipboard coloured with Gelatos in metallic blueberry, metallic grape, boysenberry and elderberry
I added embellishments using flowers, chipboard, a resin frame, lace flowers and some white cheesecloth
To finish off I added some vellum butterflies and pearls
I Used:
Maja Designs Vintage spring Basics Collection
6th of March
8th of April
4th of April
9th of April

Hello dear friends! This time I will show you the early easter cards that I have prepared. When I saw this match in between the chipboards design and Maja Design papers, I just saw this card in my imagination so clearly and then I was off to create! I decided to go with the yellow accent on my first card and stitched the cards with the yellow threads as well.

easter2_petzer_vintage_spring_basicsBoth chipboards in my cards are from Wycinanka and I left them in their natural look.easter2_petzer_vintage_spring_basics_det1and another Easter card:

lots of layers of lace here, many beads, etc…
