The summer is here and a new bottle message came my way when I was sitting on the pier, swinging my legs in the water. It was a life preserver, created in the most delicate way.
lifepreserver1

Created by the so talented Chantal Van Der Horst. Please stop by her blog to see more of her wonderful creations, it is well worth the visit. She has used the Life By The Sea collection that we have based our current Mood Board on.

Posting something online is like sending out a bottle message. The posting drifts away on the waves of the blue sea, living it’s life of it’s own. You never know who will pick it up and what that could result in.

From time to time I’m looking for just that. Bottle messages. Postings that drifts on the sea of internet, just waiting to be picked up and become praised.

This time Chantal was highlighted, you could be next. I will send out the new limited Sofiero collection to her as encouragement.Jenny

Our July Mood Board is all about the lazy days of summer. Enjoy the refreshing breeze by the coastline, take a walk to the pier and listen to the seagulls. Inspired by the Life By The Sea collection, here is our new Mood Board.Mood-Board-JulyAnd here’s a little reminder of what our Mood Boards are used for…

Definition mood board – n

a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other

We are using Mood Boards for our challenges. We truely believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the Mood Boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. A jury will pick a winner and will consider how the colours and theme were used. All Mood Boards are inspired by a specific Maja collection, but you are free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme.

We are presenting a new Mood Board the first Tuesday of every month. We will be presenting all participating creations that fulfill the requirements below July 30th. We will also draw a winner who will be winning a Maja Design collection of their own choice in 6×6 or 12×12.

After your creation is done, take a photo and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu without any watermarks (size 600×600). Include your full name and address in the e-mail together with what collection you would like if you win. Don’t forget to write down if you would like 6×6 or 12×12. We need your creation July 28th at the latest.

We will only publish creations that fullfill the requirements!

Sofiero

Smell the roses while you walk through The Rose Paths of Sofiero. You can see the fairytale castle glimps in the background while you stroll around the castle’s world famous gardens. Walk through Princess Margareta’s Flowerstreet and be amazed by her sense of colours and gardening. Head on to The Dahlia District before crossing the garden down to the gates by the sea. Listen to the waves and enjoy the sun. A wedding couple passes by giggling. The summer is here to stay.

We have had an enormous response to our new limited collection Sofiero. It started shipping this Wednesday so make sure your LSS bring them in before they are gone. I think I’m not the only one who recognizes grandmother’s old wallpapers or finds that perfect rosebud paper that is so hard to find. One of my own personal favourites is A Romantic Picnic In The Park where Marie has handpainted the flowers with aquarelle. As usual she has put a lot of personality and heart into this collection and you can really see how much she loves Sofiero. If you haven’t been to those wonderful gardens I can highly recommend it.

I’m very honoured to present one of the very first Sofiero creations…sofiero

I just had to dig in on the rosebud paper immediately, I think it’s something quite extra and so romantic. This photo was taken during our honeymoon seven years ago.We were walking around the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar, completely alone. It was quite a special moment for us.sofiero_3For some reason I always end up in purple when I try to do pink. This is no exception.sofiero_2I have used mistable chipboards that I have misted with Glimmer Mist Tattered Rose and then distressed with Distress Ink Dusty Concord and Walnut Stain. The edge of the punched border has got the same treatment.sofiero_1

I’ve used four different types of lace on this layout to create a romantic look. I’ve also added some roses to the stitching. I hope you got inspired, and remember. This is a limited collection, once it’s gone-it’s gone! So make sure you get it before it’s too late!
