Merry Christmas Everyone <3

I have today a special story I whant to tell you all, a true Christmas Carol. A Christmas Story that is all abute the Christmas Joy, that I give to a group of people who do not expect much from others.

December the 22th and 23th, I hand out 86 homemade Christmas card to the elderly living in nursing homes around in my municipality Gildeskål. A   smal town in Northern Norwa, with a total of 2014 inhabitants.

This story is not abute how the cards looked like, but what the represented, who they are to and what I wanted to accomplish when I give them away. I whant to spread some Love and Joy bu creating homemade cards and give it to someone who appreciated it <3

I and a friend who lives her in Gildeskål, made a total of 86 Christmas cards, that are 10x10cm. The cards are made with paper from Maja Design, a Christmas collection called Gammaldags Jul.

The economic is sponsored by a local business here in Gildeskål,

All of the cards have a personal greeting inside. There is also a stamp text on the inside, with the first text to an old Norwegian Christmas Song, Tenn Tusen Julelys <3

December 22th I was giving out the cards to the residents who lives in the nursing home here in Inndyr. Total 64 cards was hand out.

The basket I use is a basket that my grandmother made. Ann – Mari Aunan was a wonderful lady. One of the thing she liked to do was to show care and understanding for people. For me to go around and share the cards with the basked she made is indescribable.

The first lady, that I give a card to, is 84 yers old, and we just call her Lillemor <3

On the day before Christmas Eve, I and a friend took a trip to the other two centers for the elderly in Gildeskål, Sandhornøya and Nygårdsjøen.

On my little journey before Christmas I met people who where happy, without words and people who showed emotion in tears and a hug <3 These are meories I can take with me the rest of my life and memories that are helping me to make more projects like this in the future <3

I hope this will inspire more people to do somthing for the elderly in the areas we live in. Just think of how good we have it and who’s fault it si. In this way we can make so many people happy around the globe with the hobby we love the most. Cooperate withe big and smal business in the town we live in, we can do so many big and small projects. Whether it is for the elderly or for the kids hospital. The possibilities are many and there are only the wishes that sets a stop on what you and I want to do.

This was my personal Christmas present to myself and it means so much more than all the gifts that was under the tree this year. For me to make someone happy, just with a homemade card, it is everyting <3

I wish you all a Merry Christmas <3

Christmas Carols in the Snow

Hello Everyone <3

Today I’m here with a little extra Christmas inspiration to you <3

About two weeks ago I made a box with 8 sides. I made the box my self using thick cardbord also known as chipboards 12×12. When I made this box I would give it a little extra Christmas spirit <3

On the side of the box, I used a Martha Stewart Punch called Eyelet Lace, this is a new personal favorite of mine. The snowflakes are a dies set from Tim Holtz called Mini Snowflake. The set is two snowflakes, and on my box I have placed some of them on top each other. I also decorated these with snow from a box and plastic snow.

The lid of the box is also cut out from chipboards and both sides have patterned paper, even at the edges. The top lid I’ve covered with alot of snow from a box and snow made from plastic. I have made my self a  little Christmas story on the top. Christmas Carols in the Snow <3

On the lid I’ve used several dies from Tim Holtz. The Christmas tree in the background is put together with a dies named Evergreen <3 The Deer is from a set with two, called Reindeer Fligthe and the pair where the lady sings and the man plays, named Victorian Carolers. The other details are mushrooms, packages with some bullfinks. The bullfinks is a dies from kaBoks.

The Christmas tree is made from 16 trees that two and two are glued together. This is to get the patterned paper on both sides. In the tree you can see that I have used several Bullfinch.

Below the tree I have 3 red mushrooms and on the other side you’ll find a deer.

The packages I’ve put together myself without a tutorial. Also these are covered with snow and two of them I have placed some birds on.

When you remove the lid, you will see that I have covered the inside with patterned paper and pearl string.

The idea for the project I got when I saw the dies set with the lady and the gentleman from Tim Holtz. I just knew I had to make one project with this and give them the right Christmas atmosphere they deserve <3

For this box I have used paper from different collection from Maja Design:

I wish you all a great weekend <3

Hello, Maja Fans, welcome to our blog today 🙂

It’s Maja here with a layout to share. Last year during a routine check at the doctor’s we discovered our elder son needed glasses. I remembered that during my childhood kids wearing glasses had rather tough life at school – but luckily now that changed and glasses can even make your more popular LOL Besides, I do think he looks great wearing them, doesn’t he? 🙂

mdadorableThe inspiration for the colour palette came from the great combo of blue-green-creme and brown in the striped design of the Bulle m. blåbär sheet from the Ska vi ta en fika? collection. I matted it with the Winter joy paper and topped with the Julstämning sheet – yes, that’s right, I used winter-Christmas papers for this layout 🙂 Then I sprayed some mists over the paper and stamped the faux stitching:

mdadorable1mdadorable2Could I do without flowers? Of course not! And here’s the cluster in matching colours. I also added the owl charm, as the bird looks so much as if wearing glasses 🙂

mdadorable4Other embellies include the butterfly button, chipboard star-shaped buttons and the die-cut title:

mdadorable3Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Vintage Winter: Winter Joy, Ska Vi Ta En Fika?: , Gammaldags Jul: Julstämning bs. Other: flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts; die: Kesi’art; stamp: Prima, chipboard: Scrapiniec; button: Lemoncraft; charm: my stash.

Have a very nice day and drop by tomorrow for some more inspiration from our DT 🙂

Variety Day with Jennifer Snyder

Hello Friends – Jennifer Snyder here today to share a few of my recent projects.  I’ll call it a grab bag because I have a variety of projects to share – an altered piece, a layout and a mini photo album.  I make a few rare appearances on the blog because I am busy doing “behind the scenes” activities at Maja Design so I am very happy to show how I am using the amazing papers.
This first piece is a 13inch paper mache dress form I covered and decorated using Ska Vi Ta En Fika collection.  The  paper for the dress is , Tva Froknar,  and the hat uses the most delicious paper, Kladkakka.
The hat pattern can be found at the Flying Unicorns , where I also obtained it.  Here is a view of the dress before I altered it.
In order to make the paper mold to the dress form, I misted the papers with water, then adhered to the dress form using Prima’s Art Basics Soft Matte Gel , by Finnabair. Once wet, the paper actually molds nicely.

The large purple flowers are some older Prima flowers as are the brown ones.

 Project #2 – Christmas ( it’s not too soon)

I created this piece from a sketch by Alda Stevens,  at the Flying Unicorns.  I have no idea why my mind is on Christmas, BUT it’s NEVER too soon, right?   The holiday season sneaks up on all of us before we can blink.

This piece does have a special home already.  My co-worker is having an open house in her turn of the century 1900’s home for Christmas. She is going to hang it in her entranceway.   I couldn’t be happier.
This was created using the Gammaldags Jul collection.  For me, this collection is traditional classic Christmas at it’s best!
I used some chipboard by 2Crafty and mists by Prima.
Project 3 – Mini Photo Album
I created this for a special friend who is having her first child. With all those photos excited new parents take, they will most certainly need a brag book to pass around at every opportunity.  I used the warm comforting and beautiful collection from Coffee in the Arbour.
This is the front of the photo album.  You can see the small delicate print on the Maja papers.  I loved that I did not necessarily need a 6×6 paper pad to make my 6×6 mini.  The patterns are small enough for  this purpose as well.
Thank you for stopping by today.

Morning, Maja Fans! Welcome to the Maja Design blog today, it’s Maja here to share some Father’s Day inspiration.

I know many of you have already celebrated Father’s Day, but in Poland it comes on June 23rd and so we’re just getting ready with all the attractions 🙂 My boys asked me to make a layout for daddy with their photos and frame it so that he can put it on the wall in his studio. Knowing that, I had to go really flat which was a real challenge, I tell you! But finally I managed to make this:

mdremDo you recognise the base papers? Yeah, that’s Coffee in the Arbour 🙂 It seems romantic shabby chic papers can do great for masculine projects too! And do you remember the patchwork background cards I shared in my previous post? I used the same technique in the background of my layout:

mdrem1I punched some squares from the Life in the Country and Gammaldags Jul papers to add some red accents to the blue and brown colour palette, machine-sewed through them and then stamped some motives:

mdrem3I added the title using a metal plaquette:

mdrem2And finally a very humble – as for me – flowers and embellies cluster. I love adding metal charms! 🙂 I also brushed white gesso over the roses to match them to the whitened edges of the papers:

mdrem4So, we have the layout for daddy, and my elder son made a matching card using the same papers 🙂

mdkmdk1My younger son is a more of the drawing type, so he’ll be hand-drawing his card for Dad. And now we are almost ready to celebrate 🙂

Supplies:

Layout: Coffee in the Arbour: Smell of freshly brewed coffee bs, Butterflies are free bs, Blueberry cupcake, Blueberry cupcake bs; scraps of the Life in the country and Gammaldags Jul papers.

Other: flowers: Prima, stamps: Kaisercraft, Bo Bunny, Teresa Collins; wooden face, chipboard: Stempell & Kartoon; metal charms – from my stash.

Card: Coffe in the Arbour: Butterflies are free bs; Life in the country: Porch, Our Dear Summer Cottage.

Other: dies: Marianne Design, stamps: Marianne Design, Lemonade; twine: Divine Twine; charm: from my stash.

see you soon!
