Anniversary Card small

My Mom and Dads 55th anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks so I thought I would take the opportunity to make up a special card for them.  Ever since I was a little girl my parents would always say it’s the card (rather than the gift) that always meant the most to them, especially if the card was handmade.  For them it’s the thoughts written in the card that really mean the most to them and if we made the card it meant all the more to them.  For this card I primarily used the newest Maja collection, Vintage Frost Basics (although I also mixed in a bit of some other collections as well).

Vintage Frost Basics

I went with the soft and pretty pinks and wine colors in this collection.  For the extra dark burgundy paper I used a paper from the Vintage Summer Basics collection and for the perfect green for my leafy flourish I used a paper from the Life in the Country collection.

I was going for lots of textures and layers for this card so I used some corrugated card that was in my stash (I think it was the lining for a wine bottle gift).  I used the darkest Maja paper from the Vintage Summer Basics collection to matte the whole card and as the backing behind the lattice design, so that I could get maximum contrast.  The lattice, doily, leaf flourish and blooms are all Cheery Lynn dies.

I handmade the blooms for this card from simple white cardstock and a Gardenia die from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I just lightly tinted the petals with some Tim Holtz ‘Victorian Velvet’ Distress ink and a soft make-up sponge.  I used their Fanciful Flourish die with the ‘Summer Fields’ paper from the Life in the Country collection for my vine/flourish.  At first I was going to just use some green cardstock for this but couldn’t find the exact color I’d been envisioning.  Then I thought to myself…silly me, I should look at the greens in the Maja collections, they are made to match!  And sure enough, it was the exact green I was looking for!

Maja Design Products used for this project:  Vintage Frost Basics (4th of December, 4th of December-bs, 6th of December), Vintage Summer Basics (1922-bs), Life in the Country (Summer Fields-bs).

I hope my parents will love this card as much as I enjoyed making it!  Thanks so much for stopping by today and checking out my Maja Design project! xo

Welcome on the Maja Design blog today, Maja Fans!

It’s Maja here with a layout to share 🙂

I’m romantic at heart, I love vintage, flowers and bling and I must admit I’m very happy my boys are still little enough to accept these in their layouts 🙂 And so I created this page with great pleasure knowing my younger son would also accept it and wouldn’t mind it contains pink too:

mdbeautI combined the Vintage Frost Basics and the Ska Vi Ta En Fika papers to make the main colour palette for the layout. For the design, I just tore the plaid pattern paper diagonally, distressed the edges and glued the strips in the corners, creating kind of pockets.

mdbeaut1Then I started to fill in the composition, tucking bits of paper, cheesecloth, embellies and flowers into the “pockets”:

mdbeaut3The left upper corner also features the title, and the right bottom cormer the journaling – and I’m very happy to have dug out something I hadn’t used for ages – rubons 🙂

mdbeaut4As the finishing touch, I stamped the chicken wire pattern around the edges.

I know some day I’d have to stop adding flowers and flourishes to my boys’ pages (as I intend to give them the layouts in the future) – but now I’m just enjoying the possibilities to create to my taste 🙂

Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Ska Vi Ta En Fika: Karleksmums, Kaffe Tack!, Vintage Frost Basics: 4th of December

Other: Flowers, resin embellishments – Prima, stamp Bo Bunny, chipboard Scrapiniec, rubons Daisy D’s, cheesecloth from my stash.

I wish you a very good afternoon – see you later!

HELLO AND A WARM WELCOME TO MAJA DESIGN .  Heather here with you today. As well as creating layouts I love making handmade cards for birthdays and celebrations. This one was for an extra special celebration.January easel card walking in the forest

WE recently Celebrated our daughters 40th Birthday and today I am sharing this easel  card I created her.Tara loves denim blue and white, so it was very easy to gather some beautiful papers that co-ordinate.  I decided to use ‘Jeans’ – from the Walking in the Forest collection as my base combined with White cardstock .  I began by folding my card in white Bazzill . I Then  cut my base  6 x 6 in ‘Jeans’,  for the  stacked elements . I always create my cover separately , stack my elements and then adhere it to my white bazzill. One of my faves is to add stitching and make it arty by stitching slightly crooked lines and using alternative colored cotton.January easel card front cover

I adore these stacked elements as it is a great way to use up scraps and also the dimension it gives is quite intriguing .I notice when I give a stacked elements card the receiver always holds it up and looks in-between the layers. Makes me smile . You can use any type of diecut you desire and there is a beautiful selection of papers to blend and co-ordinate . I have used 3 collections and they all tone in magnificently together .January easel card layering
