Hello, Maja Fans, and welcome to the blog today!

Have you already got our latest release, the Home For the Holidays collection? If not, then quickly visit the nearest craft store or order them online, because I tell you – they are BEAUTIFUL! And you know what? You don’t even have to use them for Christmas projects! Have a look at this baby album I made – and I only used small bits of our baby collection 🙂

mdbbalbum0

Because designs are so cleverly planned that one side is always universally patterned, I was able to choose plaids and stripes for a perfect baby boy colour and pattern combo 🙂 I used a chipboard shaped album and decorated it to imitate baby clothes.

I added buttons and a sewn pocket on the front of the album that looks like dungarees:

The first page contains a baby info tag to add the date and measurements etc:

mdbbalbum3

The second card is shaped like a onesie with a collar and is partially visible from under the dungarees card, so I arranged the embellies so that they don’t show through:

Then the rest of the cards are in the shape of a onesie and only the first of them is visible from the front, therefore I could arrange the embellishments more freely, though I still concentrated them mostly around the edges to leave the centre of each page for photos. I also mounted the tags etc. only partially, so that the photos would look more naturally slid under them:

And though it took me ages to cut the papers according to shapes, it was still pure pleasure creating the album 🙂

Supplies:

Maja Design papers: Home For the Holidays: Can’t wait bs, To spend time, Friends, Friends bs, Welcome winter, Tradition bs, Mom’s gingerbread bs, A real fellow bs, Brought you a gift bs, Celebration, Celebration bs, Together bs, Vintage Baby: small pad. Well hello sweet Maja fans,

I am so happy you decided to visit the blog today. This time I’d like to share a couple of projects I made with several Maja Design paper collections, first up is my latest layout using the magnificent stencil designed by our very own Gabrielle “Moving Vines” they totally spice up your layout WOW. Thank you Gabrielle for creating such wonderful designs for us to use. Last week I heard some bad news my aunt from California {who is the wife to my grandfather’s brother} died and we now have a Facebook page of her memorial.  On that page they showed this wonderful picture that of course I had to scrap 😉 I am totally hooked on pictures like this, Aunt {Norma} Noor like we called her is the second on the right! This picture is dated back in the fourties. Amazing right??

For this layout I used the amazing “Vintage Autumn Basics” collection which still is one of my all time favorite collections by Maja Design. The flowers are handmade with a wonderful die by Cheery Lynn Designs {where I will be designing for again after being away to focus on my study where now I have my diploma for yeahhhh}

This design is actually a design I made before using other papers from a different company but it totally came out differently. I used three layers as the base of my layout and then put some amazing Tresors de Luxe lace behind the tears to give it more dimension.

After that I stamped and sprayed before pasting the moving vines on my page. Don’t you just love the clock sheet in this amazing collection you can just pop them out everywhere on your page, card & altered projects.

I gave all my chipboard pieces a white finish to match the lace I used. At first I wanted to used flowers that I bought but that didn’t matched my papers as I had hoped. That’s what’s great about making your own flowers it’s really time consuming but hey it keeps me of the the streets right?? LOL……:-)

Today I’d also like to show you a card I made with the “Vintage Baby” collection. It’s a flip card I made for a baby boy. So I used the blue, cream, light brown tones in this collection. This was a super easy card to make because it’s made with a die, so you don’t have to measure it because it’s already in the size you need it to be. Does that make sense?

Look at that cute teddy bear and little shoes aren’t they adorable…if you would like to make this card I could give you the sizes just tell me in a comment and I will reply as quickly as I can.

Hello Maja fans!

I’m excited to be up on the blog today to share a card I made using Maja Design’s Autumn Basics collection. Some of you may know, our baby girl arrived last Tuesday morning and we’ve received lots of well wishes for her, as well as gifts all the way from Sweden, Malaysia and even Australia! This Thank You card is meant for one of my fantastic scrappy pals who sent her love all the way across the sea.

IMG_0169

I’ve layered papers from the Autumn Vintage Basics collection seeing how the weather is cooling down these days in Singapore – a good thing for me as I’m now on a diet that makes me perspire endlessly. It’s part of my Chinese culture to make sure that mothers who have just delivered get the best nutrition to help their bodies recover from childbirth.

IMG_0173

I’ve kept my background simple because I want the designs on the papers to show. Some splattering of paint and watering it for a water-color effect (this is so trending now!), and fine stenciled designs just to keep the composition in place. I’ve also added twine to my flowers for a more rustic autumn look.

IMG_0174

Some fussy cutting over here which helped me to relax after a hectic morning of bathing baby, having my breakfast and catching up with some housework. To make the fussy cut flowers stand out, I popped the image up with 3D foam dots and dabbed Sticklers for a bit of glittery goodness.

Hope you like what I have shared with you today. Do drop by the blog again for more inspiration from the design team!

Album 1

Hello Maja Design friends! It’s Cathy here on the blog today. It’s been a while since I’ve created a mini album and I thought that now is the perfect time to do so. They do take me a while to create …but in the end the wait is worth it! I have some close friends at work who have new baby girls (who will receive this I’m not sure) so this has given me some inspiration and motivation to create an album. For this mini album I have used papers from the Vintage Baby Collection. I have also followed a tutorial to create this album. It’s a pocket page style album. It’s part of a tutorial series by My Sisters Scrapper which can be found here.

album 2

For the front of my album, I die cut this image from It’s a Girl and used a Sizzix antique frame die to showcase it. I used some Wild Orchid Crafts and Prima blooms as well.

album3

Throughout the album I used all of the ‘girl’ papers, ephemera cards and die cut sheets. I wanted to allow for journaling and personalisation in this album, and the journal cards make that possible.

album 3a

I also used several baby themed die cuts. The onesie section folds out and offers room for photos and also for journaling. I also used stamps to add opportunities for journaling and also to add the dates for special photos and occassions.
album 7a
This style of album had lots of interaction! I also created an envelope using my WR Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board and a sheet from the 6×6 paper pad. Inside I added a little booklet for more photos and journaling.
album 10

This is one of the back page. I used a journalling card and folded in half to create a little book. To create the closure, I stamped onto a leftover piece of patterned paper and adhered it with some foam tape.

I have created a video walkthrough of this album where I show all of the elements of this album.

I hope that you enjoyed this album and that you’ll have a go at creating one!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.

Hugs,

Hi! I'm Cathy. I live in Sydney and am a Primary School teacher. I am passionate about teaching and love what I do. At present paper crafts are my creative outlet, which is my other passion. I am drawn to vintage, shabby chic styled crafts which I love to create. I do enjoy other crafts such as sewing, quilting, knitting and crotchet…not enough time! I am always inspired to learn and to try new techniques in both teaching and my crafts. I love Maja Design papers and enjoy creating with them.
