Hello creative friends!

Today I want to explain how you can create a vintage romance layout with an altered 3D frame as your central focal point.

I create a very simple layout because the paper alone gives all the magic effect.

I think is one of my fav in this collection ‘Enjoying Outdoors’ – ‘Singing in the rain’.

I love the beautiful edge design and the girl on the right side and I like people who smile when it’s raining.

Times are not always easy, but I always try to make the most of it.

Take a break from the hectic everyday life and relax.

I started by creating an altered frame for my photo.

Want to see how I made this? Here I have some photos from the making.

Snapguide How to an Altered 3D Frame

Now to the background, first I primed with clear gesso, then I used Distress ink ‘Seedless preserves’ on a stencil, it’s the same colour how you can find on this paper sheet.

Next, I added a Glimmer Mist Spray ‘Kiwi’ from Tattered Angels

to the background arround the area of the photo.

then I use two die cuts to add more dimension

(Wordlet ‘Do what you love’ and ‘Girl under umbrella’)

with papers from ‘Vintage Romance’.

Afterwards I choose some embellishments to decorate this romance layout,

for instance from Prima Marketing (garden gates, butterfly), flowers, lace, fabric leftovers,

water drops, little resin flowers.

I builded a small cluster on the right side under the photo.

suitable to the titel ‘singing in the rain’ I added some pearl drops and another umbrella from a die cut, as well as a clockface

from the ‘No. XVI’ (Vintage Autumn Basics) above with a glass cabochon.

The ‘Welcome’ sign is a photo cutout with a underlaid folder music paper sheet.

3D look

This project was so much fun to create and I love the 3D effect that you can build up.

Questions??? you’re welcome :-)!

I hope my project can give you some inspiration for your work with Maja Design papers.

What is your favourite paper sheet??

Have a beautiful day!

Welcome creative friends!

Kerstin is back with a new springtime layout.

After a very long cold period, it finally gets warmer and the daffodils in my garden start to bloom. I love this time, finally, more sun shines again and gives hope for new life. There is a lot to do in the garden right now, but you should also let all five go straight and just enjoy this short time.

This time I used a monochrome paper as background, I love this neutral papers because

you will have so many opportunities to create a selfmade mixed media background.

I used a brick stencil with white gesso, old music paper sheets, stamps, leftovers from craft paper,

Glimmer Mist Spray (Sunflower) from Tattered Angels, Distress Ink Stain from Ranger,

paper frames from La Blanche and wonderful flowers from 49 and Market.

some details

I hope you like this little spring layout inspiration

with monochrome paper from the ‘Shades of Celebration’ collection,

I will return on 18th of April with a

Tutorial 🙂

Happy crafting!

with a lot of things which make this season so beautiful.

I glued this on a canvas und used it as mural for my springtime home decoration.

a background stencil from Prima with white gesso and green metallic wax

Springtime clear stamps from Viva Decor and chipboards from Scrap FX

beautiful pastel flowers from Prima

a little wooden bird house together with some eggshells under the … 😉 ??

gauze, cutting dies – leaves and butterflies

vintage clockfaces (cut out) from paper sheet No XVI from Vintage Autumn Basics

I wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and
happy easter with a lot of sunshine and warmth!

Hello Maja friends!

It’s March now and everyone is waiting for spring because we have had enough of the snow and coldness.

As the snow slowly melts and patches of green start to show, a whole
new world unfolds around you, offering a nature experience of a different kind.
As soon as the days start to draw out again shoots begin to show everywhere:
the first to peek through the soil are the snowdrops, daffodils and crocuses.
I was able to discover them in my garden before winter came back.

But what is one of my favorite sayings?

Now matter how long the winter
Spring is sure to follow!

So I was inspired to make a springtime layout with some paper sheets

from the beautiful collection ‘Vintage Romance’

together with some stamps, cutting dies (letters, circles, branches, frames, butterflies, tags, leaves),

lace, feathers, Art stones, old note paper, Distress inks,

a small book page from La Blanche

and a little paper doll from Tim Holtz.

some details

the background paper ‘When I saw you’ has so wonderful delicate green stripes,

very subtly and suitable for beginning of spring

some little hearts in light green were a perfect addition

and I used this paper together with a lot of various cutting dies

oh, the word SUN is hidden on the right side beside this sweet photo

it’s no wonder, or?!

Is like a message to us, that we have to go on and don’t leave our way

to make the sun shine on us again.

Thanks for your visit!
Have a beautiful time!

A beautiful evening

Welcome Maja Friends!

I’m also still creating with our latest amazing ‘Celebration’ collection. As I saw this elegant dancing pair I thought on our annual SemperOperaball in Dresden. It’s a very special and magic event.

”Despite low temperatures, thousands of people will take to the theatre square in front of the Semper Opera House to celebrate the Semper Open Air Ball. While guests watch the gala programme inside, up to 15,000 partygoers will be singing and dancing outside in front of the opera house. In rain, freezing temperatures or under starlit skies – the Semper Open Air Ball transforms the square into the world’s largest dance floor for the locals and guests.”

Therefore I was inspired to make a home decoration piece, it’s a cloche in romantic vintage style.

How you can see you will need not so much materials, main thing is the paper sheet ‘Ballroom dancing’, old music paper, Distress inks and some embellishments how like flowers, lace, feathers and what do you want.

I used as basic a star from a cutting die. After I cut out the pair, I curved the motif with a knitting needle and folded the feets to glue them on. The paper from Maja Design is so stable that it stands alone, but you can stick to support a few more blooms from behind against it.

Now you just need to stick the decoration on.

backside view

I rolled up the notebook paper, distressed the edges and created some paper sticks.

I highlighted some places with Stickles ‘Baby Blue’ from Ranger and a wonderful blue feather suitable to the ball gown.

… and your new eyecatcher is ready 🙂

Thanks for your visit!

Greetings from Kerstin 🙂
