Take a Hike

Hi everyone!  It’s me, Gabrielle here with you today to share a layout I made using the Maja Design ‘Antligen’ collection papers with a little bit of Crea Diem mixed in.  My oldest daughter Chloe loves to go on these little hikes with her friends and uses her phone camera to take pics along the way.  I have to say I was surprised to see the beautiful scenic photos she takes (waterfalls, rock cliffs, beautiful woodland), I had no idea we had these beautiful places to hike right here close to home!

For this page I wanted to use very natural looking papers and embellishments so I went with the soft cool pinks and browns in the Antligen collection….here are the papers I used…

Antligen

21-vardagjamning

Vårdagjämning  ~  (I used this paper pretty much as is, I just did a little stamping with some white paint and bubble wrap) and did a little edge distressing with the Tim Holtz edger.

06-kaffe-pa-trappan

Kaffe på trappan  ~  (used as matting for background paper as well as using it with the Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish die cut…see close up below).

I just love using clock images in my scrapping so I cut out another clock design from the Crea Diem collection paper (below) and used it to tuck beside my photo…

I wanted a very naturalistic look to the page so I used a whole bunch of embellishments from My Little Yellow Bicycles ‘Naturals’ collection (Cork alphas, Etched Wood Buttons, Canvas Tags, Canvas Tape, Cork Stickpins)….as well as some lace from Tresors De Luxe, lightly tinted with tea stain.

The blooms I added were a modge podge of Prima blooms I had left over from old kits as well as some small roses from Dusty Attic.  The chicken wire design I added is again from Dusty Attic, I left the chipboard ‘natural’ in keeping with my design.

I hope you enjoyed my project today and hope that you will try mixing and matching collections, it’s a great way to make your papers stretch!

Hello Maja Friends. I have a new Layout to share with you this summer day.

GirlsbyElenaOlinevich

What I like about Äntligen collection is that there are so many summer inspired papers there, that you have endless possibilities to recreate summer atmosphere using them.

I used quite a clean background , but added some splashes of colors using Gesso and Gelatos.

Here is a quick tutorial on how to achieve a water color effect with some mixed media techniques.

TutorialAntligen1

I started with applying the Gesso on the background randomly

TutorialAntligen2

After it has been dried I applied bright colors of Gelatos. Don’t be afraid of too bright or unmatched colors. Combining with different patterned patterns they start work perfectly.

TutorialAntlihen3

It may look messy and like kid’s drawing, anyway, damp your brush with water and blend the colors. It will look more transparent now.

TutorialAntligen4

Add some paper layers, trimmed or distresses, add stamping with Gelatos too

TutorialAntligen5

Now it’s time to add some texture, I used Gel medium, Palette Knife and a stencil. Leave it to dry and then grab some Gelatos over the textured area

GelMediumPart

It may not be seen clearly, but it has some blurring look and I love this effect on the papers.

IMG_8007

To add some texture too, I used cheesecloth and flowers

IMG_8011

Added some lace trims and chipboard elements

IMG_8016

To finish my Layout I touched the papers and the embellishments with Gelatos as well

I hope you liked this coloring tips and don’t forget to share with us your creations on our Facebook Page too.

I made a commitment a while back to make an effort to create a card for every special person in my life to let them know how much they mean to me. I have been keeping that promise, and interestingly enough, not only has it been a fun challenge, but it has also been a great source of inspiration for me – especially on those days when I feel like I am hitting a creative wall.

Do you ever feel that way? If so, what do you use as your inspiration to get through the mental block?

1

Today’s card is for someone extremely close and special to my heart. Without her, I wouldn’t be here today. No, really. I mean I literally would not be here!

This card is for my mom – one of the best friends I have ever had and will ever have.

She is a constant source of love, support and encouragement in my life, and she carries the brightest heart of anyone I have ever met. I love you, mom. You mean so much to me.

2

I created this card using soft pastel colors, because she absolutely loves them. I decided to use two violet shades of Maja paper, since it’s so very symbolic with my mom’s name (Violeta). The papers are from the Antligen collection (Syrenen blommar) and the Vintage Spring Basics collection (10th of April).

I used the two beautiful prints to make the background of the card, which I adhered onto craft cardstock, and then covered with pretty lace, ribbon, pearl trim, and burlap trim.

3

To the center of the card, I added a handmade clay embellishment in a matching kraft color, along with a scallop die-cut, glittery heart, and a couple of paper ribbons with a sentiment. I added a couple of hand-stamped and cut roses, and just a touch of glitter along the pretty pearl trim.

Supplies: Maja Design Paper (Antligen collection (Syrenen blommar), Vintage Spring Basics collection (10th of April)), Kraft Cardstock, Paper Doily, Papertrey Ink Dies (Rosie Posie, Banner Borders), Papertrey Ink Stamps (Rosie Posie), American Crafts Dear Lizzie Sentiment Stamp, Stampin’ Up Vintage Button, Trim, Lace, Clay Embellishment, Pearls and Die-Cut Hearts are from my stash.

Thank you so much for joining me today!
