Count Your Blessings

Hello! It’s Nancy with you today, and I’d like to wish a warm welcome to all of our friends of the Maja Design Blog!

It’s the first week of October, and many are already reveling in the refreshing brace of fall. It’s still in the 90’s in Charleston, so here we must wait a couple of months to enjoy those cooler temperatures.

To escape the heat we’re planning a mountain holiday, where we’ll partake in all the delights of autumn, including nature’s glorious display of color. The Smoky Mountains, always teaming with abundance and life, transition from the lush green of summer, to every shade of orange, yellow, red, olive, and brown. It’s a sight of such beauty that it seems almost otherworldly, like something out of a story book. That is my inspiration for today’s card, and there could be no better paper collection to bring it to like than Maja Design’s Walking in the Forest.

The beautiful design papers are distressed and stitched to form a multi-layered base.

Purchased paper flowers and die cut leaves of multiple varieties comprise the floral spray, anchoring and drawing the eye to the focal point of die cut tags and bird stamps, all created using the paper collection.

The sentiment is hand stamped using archival ink.

Finishing touches include a loopy twine bow, fall berries, and a dusting of gesso here and there.

Maja Design Papers Used:

Other Products Used: Tim Holtz Leaf Dies, Magnolia Rose Leaf Die, Paper Flowers, Sentiment Stamp, Archival Ink, Natural Twine, Fall Berries, Foam Adhesive, Glue Gun, Sewing Machine, Thread.

I’m off to bring some semblance of order to my craft room. It’s not always the tidiest of spaces, but it never fails to be the comfiest. It’s my own personal Hobbit-hole, where I’m never far from a tea kettle and a cozy day of crafting.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I wish you a lovely day filled with all things good and wonderful. I hope you’ll have plenty of time to work on your own creations, and remember to share them with us here at the Maja Design Mood Board Challenge!

Hugs,

  • Such a beautiful card here. I just love the dabbing details with the Gesso, it really brings the leaves a bit to life, and make it look more natural. Love the colors and al goes sooo well together to make a fabulous look on the card. Stunning work as always.

  • Oh Nancy, these papers are divine. I really love this card. Color tones and that grouping of flowers/leaves is gorgeous. I think your special touches of Gesso make it look so aged. It is a “Tattered Treasure” I think that little sweet bird speaks to me. Such a fun post, thanks for the inspiration.
