Hello Maja Design fans and friends! Nancy Hanttula here again, this time to share a layout, I created for my mom to give to her on Mother’s Day.
I used the gorgeous Vintage Spring Basics paper collection.
This is a photo of my maternal grandparents when they were young. I have been wanting to create a special layout using this photo for quite some time…specifically for my mom. And since she seldom (if ever) gets on-line to see my work, I feel quite safe that she won’t even see this until I can get it framed and wrapped up nicely for her on Mother’s day.
I dug deep into my stash for the embellishments I used on this. I covered a large chipboard circle that I have had for years (from Close to my Heart) with the paper “7th of April” …. then glued on brown ribbon, twirled loops of twine, flowers from Prima, Petaloo and Michaels, then added some extra bling with some bling brads from Creative Charms.
I added some texture by using modeling paste mixed with Apple Barrel acrylic paint in Flame Yellow to a Prima stencil on the upper left and lower right sides of the layout.
I framed the little bird that was already on the background paper, “1st of April”, with a little metal frame from Maya Road. I also layered some washi tape from Recollections in this corner in a little lacy brown and floral design.
I added some heart stamping using one of my little stampabilities wood mounted stamps.
I added some metal brad/buttons from Making Memories, layered over some inked up carnival tickets.
The pretty little purple flower sticker is from K & Co, and I added a little scrap I had punched for another project next to it (punched from Sommartider paper collection, paper, “Iskall saft” -bs). I also added some little fancy stick pins next to the flower.
I wove threads of pearls in and around the flowers of the circle, and bunched up and glued some animal print ribbon from Anna Griffin.
Specific papers used for this project included: Paper Collection Vintage Spring Basics: papers: 1st of April; 1st of March – bs; & 7th of April; and Sommartider paper collection: Iskall saft – bs.
Other supplies used but not already mentioned above, included: Tombow permanent adhesive; hot glue; Prima’s chalk ink/Ingvild in Shabby Tote, Coltsfoot, & Branch Bark; Martha Stewart border punch; Liquitex Modeling paste; burlap fabric; & cheesecloth.
Thanks for looking! I hope that something here has inspired you to create something amazing today! Hugs,
