Hello Maja Fans, welcome to the blog today 🙂
I’m so happy you are here for my first post this year! Today I’d like to share an off-the-page project I have created using the Vintage Summer Basics collection.
I mean, I love winter when there’s around -5°C and glimmering snow on the ground, but not when it’s -15°C, no snow and a strong wind. And as we’re having exactly that kind of weather right now in Poland, I miss the summer very much! And so I took out summery papers and enjoyed beautiful colours and designs 🙂 And here’s what I came up with:
It’s a double-sided home decor item. I used a ready-made house-shaped MDF piece and coevered it with Maja papers. One side features our family photo taken last summer 🙂
I matted the photo with various images and journaling tags I cut out from the Minnen sheet. I mounted them on 3D dots for more dimension, and added a chipboard title:
I added a leafy twig and flowers to the left. I also used a keyhole plate and little bird nest as embellishments.
On the other side I put the chipboard journaling: a Bible quotation that says: “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” It’s a blessing for my family, to remind us that love and care from God is all we need:
For the backkground I used die-cut doilies and a flower cluster that I arranged below the beautiful ornate metal cross:
I decorated the “roof” of the house with two angel figurines, a couple of roses and pieces of guipure lace. Then I smeared white crackle paste here and there for a more shabby look.
Supplies:
Maja Design papers: Vintage Summer Basics: Minnen, 1926 bs, 1933, 1935 bs, 1903 bs. Other: flowers, twig, nest, angels, crackle past, dies: Prima; chipboard: Scrapiniec, Snip Art; keyhole plate: Tim Holtz; guipure lace: my stash.
I wish you all the best for the new year – and see you soon!
