Taming Purple

Hello, dear Maja Fans, welcome to the blog today!

Perhaps some of you know already that I don’t really like purples. I mean, they are so difficult to use and photograph! I’m also afraid including purples in my project would give it a sense of sadness and grief. But the Enjoying Outdoors collection has two shades of purple in it – a warm and cool version – and they definitely don’t look sad! And so I decided to try and tame the colour and made those cards:

mdeocards0I thought it would be best to begin with the warm shade of purple and combine it with beiges and greens that can also be found in the collection. For the background of the first card I used a journaling card I cut out from the Tags&Journaling sheet:mdeocards1I added a couple of other papers and tags to build layers:

mdeocards2…and added the flower cluster in matching colours and chipboard glittered words:

mdeocards3The base for my second card is the beautiful beige Having tea in the sun sheet:

mdeocards4I introduced the purple accent in the form of a die-cut doily and flowers on the belly band that holds the folded base:

mdeocards5The base paper is already beautifully patterned, so I only added delicate stamping:

mdeocards6When you open up the card, the inside space for writing in wishes reveals itself. I decorated the paper with stamped borders and little pearls:

mdeocards7I think the cards turned out elegant and romantic, and not at all sad, don’t you think? 🙂
