The Lifeguard.

LifeguardHi everyone, this is Heidi again, here to share my next project as Guest Designer with you. I have been so inspired by the papers and I don’t know whether it was the products or the mood board that inspired me the most, but I could not stay away from the red, white, and blues!  This photo of my oldest son was taken two years ago, and I have been holding onto it for that perfect paper to showcase it. When my box arrived, I knew immediately that the time had come because the “Life By the Sea” papers were perfect. I began by building some box layers on the background paper “The East Coast”. To do this, I cut out rectangles from “Marina Hovering” in several different sizes and arranged them underneath the photo. Once I knew where they were going, I tore strips of masking tape and adhered everything to the background. I then used some black ink and lightly stamped onto these layers. Then I doodled with a black pen around the edges of these rectangles to frame them a bit.Lifeguard2Next I attached my photos, for both I used my silhouette, dimensional, technique, of cutting out one of the images and mounting it onto the same image to make it appear as if my photo subject was coming off the page. I then tore strips from the “A Day At Sea” paper, creating waves to the left side of my page. I topped this with alcohol ink and some cut out images from the “Islands and Skerries” paper.

Lifeguard1To finish my project off, I added my title work, flicks of Shimmerz paint, more alcohol ink, knotted sewing thread, and metal junkyard findings from Prima. To highlight my central photo just a tad more, I used craft wire to circle my son’s image.

Lifeguard3And… for a little bit of humor, and because I can never seem to keep all my journaling and titlework in the same place, in the upper right side of my layout I added one last word.

Supplies Used:

Life By the Sea “The East Coast, Marina Hovering, A Day at the Sea, Islands and Skerries”, Prima Junkyard Findings, Shimmerz Coloringz, Ranger Alcohol Ink, Thread, Craft Wire, Masking Tape, Gesso, Prima Stamps, StazOn Ink.

Until next week!
