Hi Maja friends!

I’m so excited to be sharing with you my first official blog post with Maja Design! This is really a dream come true as I have loved the beautiful softness of these papers from the moment I laid eyes on them. And now to be part of a team that has some of the best crafters around is an honor for me.

While the romantic shabbiness of Maja Design’s papers are very suitable for girls, I would like to show you today that it can also be perfect for a project for boys as well. This is a layout I created of my youngest son:

My style is mixed media and I like to build up layers in my background with mediums. This is followed by more layers of different textures in my photo mat. The neutral and soft colored papers of Maja Design are very well-suited for the kind of backgrounds I like to create.

I add flowers to almost every project regardless of whether it is for a boy or girl. I have used grey or white flowers to complement the background paper, and colored the rest of the embellishments blue to match the background I have created. You can see these two colors in the papers I used for the layers.

Another small flower cluster on top to balance up the layout. You can see I like to use chipboards to make my layers more varied and interesting. I have also made die-cut leaves from small pieces of Maja papers.
